Phil's car. Is the guy interested in doing another set? So, these are not Speedriven GT30's as posted with the time slip on Dragtimes?

Yep all done for now, everything checked out, my shop has the dyno sheet which I'm gonna pick up when I set up for dyno time across the street since my shop now has a mustang dyno and all the record keeping I was doing was on a Dyno Jet using SAE smoothing 5 so I figured just compare it apple to apples so I can see the changes for sure, but having a trunk tank with a rule 2000 pump and a mezire pump in front was def worth it. I was told they ran for awhile on the mustang dyno and it didn't heat up anywhere as much as it use to.

No these aren't Speedriven GT30s they are GTX 4294R. I can ask him if he wants to mock up the set up or give out info for anyone else to do it but he said it was a really tight fit to keep them in the factory spot, but I'm busy this weekend and prob wont catch up with him till Monday. For the bigger turbos he said he would have to do a complete custom set up and the tubros can't be places in the factory spot. The I'll ask him if its okay to post the pictures he sent me of his set up of the upgrades.

But if you were gonna do this I would assume you would need to do the transmission upgrade. Idk how the lag is on a GTX 42, but he def beefed up the trans and put a high stall torque converter so he could launch at 3200

But in all seriousness pics will not be posted. Anyone that has actually seen a gtx42 in person know it's not gonna fit under the hood let alone the stock location. I Call complete bs. And why would it be going back to Speedriven? Their kit clearly uses a smaller frame turbo so what gives????

If anything I bet Jo at Speedriven has seen them, Phil made it seem that he knows Jo personally. He wants to send it to Speedriven for complete engine build, and some things I don't think I'd ever do on my car lol but it wasn't at speedriven when he bought it was already built by a tuner in CA with the intake/intercooler/ecu/tcu.

The vendor that built the car before Phil got it was a former sponsor on the forum

https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-...0-project.html

Phil thinks since they manged to tune his set up right for the most part, that they must be doing something right so he wants them to do all the crazy stuff to it now. I'll prob call him when I get back from my business trip to Miami later in the week.

Looks like the CA tuner was using SD hardware

I still think there's some confusion here as to what was done to the car, what was undone, and what is getting done. The bigger turbos that are being talked about here definitely don't fit in the stock location (as BMWBob pointed out), they'll have to go on top of the built motor.

Beyond that, I (this is Jo) have come to know Phil pretty well recently, and we do talk and hang out socially. He asked me not to tell people what he was running, and I shook his hand over it, so I won't. I'm just happy to have him finally post some numbers!!

I personally met phil yesterday, great guy, with alot of plans for the sl. Wouldnt go into much detail about the next setup, but its definitely going to be killer. The car is beautiful in person and makes me excited to get my BS wide kit finished

V12tt any update on your SL? Did you get it picked up and is everything sorted? Once all buttoned up your car should be about the only car that could even try taking a crack at the new mb v12 record.

V12TT I am also looking forward to seeing how your project works out. Next week I should also get some updates, not sure what to expect with the new billet turbos.

Bad news on Phil's SL600 record, it was on NOS and race fuel.

He did say he will be running 8's with his new setup without the NOS. that I would like to see.

It took a few days to get this info... but nevertheless the owner is honest and is sharing it - appreciate this.

Since he is using different turbos I would think he is using race fuel to maximize power output, his tune/setup may even require it. Race fuel isnt too big a deal anyways IMO too bad on the nos though, do you know how much he was spraying?

Yep 150 shot of NOS was used.

The race fuel I agree, however I think both need to be declared as being used. For 90% of us who are tuning our cars we will be using the highest pump gas we can find and tune for that. So I would like to be able to compare performance based on a similar grade fuel.

You can't really run anything less on the V12s.

I don't think many if anybody else is wanting to run NOS on these cars. Maybe I am wrong but I think you are going down the wrong path. Hopefully the Turbo upgrades will be sufficient to push this platform without the NOS.

My thinking is that you are trying to fill the low end turbo lag with NOS which will make the car just another 1/4 junky. Throw in an electric motor to fill the low end and then you may have something.
