2006 SL55 variable performance
Hi, I just picked up my 2006 SL55 to go along with my 2006 E55. I have a V-box which I use to time 60 -100mph times. After a first run after warming up it performs as expected 5.6 sec for that interval. It seems however right after that a second run is always slower 6.2 sec for the interval. Taking it easy for a few miles the performance then seems to improve again but not as quick as the first run. I have had supercharged cars and know all about heat sink. Is that what is happening? Is the computer reducing performance until cooler intake temps return. Sorry if this is an old topic.
Another thing I see mention of 2008 SL55s. I was always under the impression 2007 was the first year for the SL63 or was that just for the E class?

It appears that you are having heat soak - Yes. The supercharger will loose efficiency with heat and the computer will pull timing.
The SL55's where offered up until 2008. The SL63 arrived in a 2009 model year.

Textbook heat soak. If youre stock, an updated 010 bosch pump will suffice.
If you plan on modding, go for a pierburg cwa50 that will handle the added restriction of extra heat exchangers and all that

Thanks people, I have been in touch with Eurocharge for a stage 3 system. If all goes well I will do the same to my E55. Comments on Eurocharge would be helpful? Cheers.

That said, id recommend against the johnson cm30 they are likely including in your stage 3 package. Everything is high quality, but youll likely want more pump pressure if you plan on running 2 heat exchangers in series.
