Speedriven Standalone for SL55 AMG - Pricing Announced
Speedriven made Mercedes-Benz tuning history recently, when it became the first tuner to successfully integrate a standalone engine control unit (ECU) into a modern Mercedes-Benz. This week, Speedriven is pushing the envelope even further. The company has announced an integrated standalone solution for another hugely popular Mercedes-Benz tuning platform: the W211 E55 AMG.
“The CAN communication between the dash and the body systems is very similar,” explains Speedriven’s Marcin Kogut. “Especially between the E and the SL, which use a lot of the same hardware. We knew that from the V12 swaps we did in the past. That made the E the most obvious next step for standalone development.”
As shown in Speedriven’s previous baseline dyno and demonstration drive videos, the standalone ECU offers W211 E55 AMG tuners complete control over the car’s systems. At the same time, tuners will be able to custom tailor launch control strategies and drivability using features that were never available with the stock ECU. Those include both flex fuel support and boost by gear!
Speedriven’s standalone ECU PKG is available for $7995, and is compatible W211 E55 AMG, C219 CLS55 AMG, and R230 SL55 AMG. The PKG includes a Syvecs S8 ECU, custom harness and connectors, and wide-bands. It usually ships within 2-3 weeks. Contact Speedriven at 847.485.8126 or email us at this link for more information.

This is absolutely wonderful, thank you Speedriven.
Does it ship with a functioning tune for stock cars, or do you need to build a map from scratch
Will you be offering remote tuning at all?
Do factory scan tools and diagnostic equipment continue to work with the ABC module and others?

A few questions here, and I'll try to address them in order:
1. you're welcome
2. you'll get a baseline tune for the stock car, and the ECU is capable of generating a usable baseline tune using the wide band O2 sensors (included) and a target AFR.
3. yes. Up to 4 hours of remote, live-viewer support are included with additional hours available for purchase as needed at our standard dyno tuning rate (they probably won't be needed).

so curious whats the purpose of this. theres no turbo kits for the sl55. weistec has a larger blower but thats doable without a stand alone. why would someone need an stand alone ecu for a 55 platform?

There are a number of issues with running the stock ECU that can't be addressed by any tuner. There's a hard boost limit, for example. There are limitations in how traction control and shifts can be calibrated. There's no way to add new features like launch control or boost by gear. All just for starters ...

Check with Weistec about the bigger blower ,I believe in the SL 230 chassis you have to lower the engine ,hood clearance issues.
