My last day on the forum......

Well, it is time to move on. I love my SL65, but the maintenance costs are killing me.

So, in a few hours, I'll drop it off and pick up my new C63S Convertible.

Should be fun.

Thanks for all the support!

Enjoy!

At least you are still in the AMG family. The C63 S is just awesome. Convertible to boot

Cheers!

Mind sharing what the costs have been? It would help me to set expectations and I'm sure others as well.

What should someone expect to pay to have those issues fixed? Trying to get a sense of what to expect in repair cost on the LSs.

Do not buy this car unless you have a lot of money or an aftermarket warranty. I'm just telling you now, be prepared to sell it early if you don't have either. I have the warranty receipts from my car totaling over $40k in repairs and maintenance for 3 years. (Fortunately I paid for none of them, the previous owner did.) Everything that can go in my car went, motor mounts, ABC pump, etc. The maintenance was expected and the warranty covered the repairs on mine.

I would be curious to see the list of repairs and cost over the three years. It would be helpful to me and I'm sure others to know what they may be getting themselves in to.

Even if you left the SL65 at the dealership for repairs you still wouldn´t catch up the depreciation on the C63S.

I do need to take some pics. As for the comparison, the difference between a 2005 and a 2017 anything is pretty big. The 'tech toys', etc. are better (although the UI sucks).

Top is fast and quiet. I thought I'd miss the hard top, but don't. The power is instantaneous -- the SL65 had a subtle lag that the C63S doesn't. The power delivery is extremely smooth. It is also easy to pick Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Race, which changes the whole experience.

I loved my SL65, but the C63S is superior in virtually every way.

Plus two car seats fit in the back

Tried out a C63S before buying my SL65. They were virtually the same price here for a 2015 C63S and my 2005 SL65 (ca. $10.000 difference). Was not impressed at all by the C63S. It didn´t feel as fast or as special as the 65. But each to his own.
