R230 SL500 SL55 Shifter Electronics

Can anyone tell me which electronics on the shifter control what function? I'm trying to figure out which one controls the shift indicator in the instrument cluster... Any Help is appreciated...

There is a position sensor within the shifter that informs the car(via the CAN) the selected gear-----what's your problem?

I had to disassemble the shifter to replace the infamous plastic clip that breaks and when I reassembled it there is a delay between when I shift into drive now. It reads N when first put in D and R when in N... It goes to the proper gear after about 4 seconds but thats an eternity when trying to park... Could you tell me if that sensor is located on the left or right side of the shifter or even if you have a pic that would be great... Been looking for answers for months... Thank you for your help either way...

You have to take the shifter out and in doing so the location becomes apparent because of the connector----whats the problem!

I'm not sure which connector goes to the indicator that leads to the instrument cluster. I know the one that goes to the indicator on the console works as it should and that one is not causing my problem...

Benz
its in the black box on left side of shifter. The front screw that holds the metal shield in place also locks the position of the box, it can rotate slightly. possibly in wrong position
