sl65 at half mile
so i ran the sl65 at the GA wannagofast 1/2 mile this weekend.
best speed was 132mph. Running bone stock with partially worn tires and heavy *** 20" Savini wheels. ( i know i know but all i had on hand at the moment)
I think i could have eked out a couple more miles an hour with better quality tires and light weight wheels.
Im curious has anyone else here run a stock sl65 at a 1/2 mile? If so what was your top speed. I think 135 would be about right for a stock 65 but have never seen another stock one run.

IMO your time seems very low. 1/2 mile times are about 20-25 mph higher than 1/4 mile. So your car likely traps at 115 in 1/4 mile.
I ran 152 in my AMG GT.

Not sure my time is that far off. I was expecting to hit around high 130's on a stock car. But again have no other stock cars to compare too.
He did limit the number of cars this show to a 100. It was really nice. got in about 2 runs per hour. On the flip side the event was empty though. No vendors, very few attendees. But I was there to drive so i was very happy with it.

152 is really high. is this a stock AMG GT? there were two other AMG GT's there. One was a vendor car, heavily modded hitting around 156. The other was a private owners mildly modified hitting around 145.

That’s too bad they didn’t have more going on there as it could be a really cool event not sure what it is that they’re not doing.
There was a half-mile event in south Georgia that was canceled by the city that would’ve been cool to see what our real speeds should be.

On a side note, do you ever do any mountain drives etc? The local MB group here is really inactive.

Used to ride bikes from Atlanta to Clayton ga, right on war women’s road, into hwy 28 up to highlands NC. Epic road.
Last year after the event, we took this route down the mountain from highlands with the GT and it was an absolute hoot.
I’m up for a ride there in the fall if you want to start a shout out.
