SL55 ABC - Rear end bangs over big bumps?

I've got an 05 SL55.

There's one spot in my city, going over a set of train tracks and I get just this horrible bang from the rear end when I do it. I hear the bang more than I feel it if that makes sense.

The car passed a rodeo a few years back and I think its always made this noise over this specific section of road.

Do you think my accumulator blocks are going? Is there a way to troubleshoot the suspension further? Cars suspension seems fine otherwise.

I would say if they're original, just go ahead and replace them. At 15+ years, they're definitely worn out at best. With a bad rear accumulator, bumps will have a more jolting feel. ABC tends to have a softness even when hitting the sharpest dips.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
sounds like a shock but I would look under everything and see if anythings broken or has marks on it

We did the rear accumulator, and replaced the ABC Filter apparently the filter was quite nasty.

Still getting the banging over bumps at speed and its definitely just in the back of the car.

Mechanic said the rear end is still kinda bouncy when he was testing it.

soooooooo shocks at $1100/corner?

Probably shot rear subframe mounts. When there shot they do exactly what you said.

It's probably the transmission mount. Even if it looks good replace it. Relatively inexpensive. Use OEM mount or you may still have the problem.

I agree with the transmission mount. When I had a similar symptom but at the front of the car; I was sure it was front arms ball joints; one side seemed a little worn, so replaced the pair. Car remained the same. Then took it to Merc Independent specialist I know & trust, he said let's go for a drive; about 20 feet later, he said it was the transmission mount! Replaced & problem solved.
