SL Black Weight Reduction
Have any of you SL BS owners attempted weight loss on your cars? Have any of you weighed your cars?

Aside from changing out the seats, there's really not a lot to be done, given that virtually everything is CF already. At 2 tons, any small weight savings is really negligible.
When I want lightweight, I drive my Vette. ;-) |

Even on city streets traction is HUGE vs reg tires & worst offender of all 20" wheels.... Hope some/any of this helps you out:y |

Not sure on how the blk ser compares to say older sl65/sl600's but i've seen both exhaust systems neither have resonators but oem mufflers about 20 lbs ea & oem cats are GIANT basically 2 welded together per side = mini beer keg per side another 20+ lbs per side I replaced both w/hi flo 300 cell cats 2 lbs each side, replaced oem mufflers w/3" straight pipes also fact tips weighed about 6 lbs ea side, ALL said & done cut off easy 100+ lbs in oem exhaust, worth a tenth in 1/4 mi or old rule of thumb 10hp per every 100lbs weight loss, NOT enormous but huge if you ran 11.00 E/T 1/4 mile .10 savings will = 10. 90 lastly dump the heavy AMG wheels 27-30+ lbs rears I have OEM clk 320 setup they weigh 12.7 lbs ea
