1998 SLK230, Roadster, Automatic, Silver/Black
I am a single Midwestern college professor who is interested in buying his first ever, previously owned, MB SLK 230 for the years 1998-1999. Any advice, observations would be welcomed.

SLK's R170 are very good cars overall, check the usual stuff like service booklet, (mercedes benz service history), check the throttle response (when in neutral), oil leaks from the engine, wheel responsiveness (by turning it left and right while moving on low speeds) and also see if when you brake hard while having the wheel straight and driving into an average speed, it strafes you either left or right. Definitely take it to a repair and to a body shop for inspection, preferably someone you know, to check the engine and if the car has been involved in an accident. Also dont forget to check the roof mechanism, if you hear weird noises something is wrong or is about to happen! In general try to buy a stock car, dont let yourself be impressed by alloys and bodykits. Hope I helped. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Not if he is European.

The USA has the Midwest.
Methinks he's American, eh. (Oh...and you forgot. The cost of living in Europe sucks up all that extra income... )
