SLK230 engine swap?

Anyone seen any conversions that would give a bit more grunt say 300hp+?

I know Brabus put a MB V8 in a 170 but that was damn expensive. How about a warm MB3.7L V6 (stock 245hp i think) or a GM LS1?

If you can find a wrecked CLK430 as a donor car, the V8 swap would be more possible than using the newer MB V6s or going to a GM motor.

E-Klasse thanks for your response. Can you tell me more about using a CLK as a donor car?

BTW I did mean the old 3 valve V6 (i.e. 3.7L per the ML, S class etc) not the new 3.5L 4 valve V6. Still think this may be a good option as it is the same block as the 3.2L so it should bolt in. The GM LS1 is smaller and lighter, more powerful and cheaper to buy and tune than the old 3 valve MB V8s and still may be an option.

I have read a few magazine articles in the past on the engine swap from a CLK430. THe MB 320 and 430 share a lot in common and the CLK320 and 430 use the same engine bay. The CLK and the SLK are close to the same platform. When the 430 V8 is dropped in to an SLK320 in place of the V6, the exhaust manifolds need to be custom made and the motor mounts are used from the CLK430 along with the transmission from the 430. A new drive shaft needs to be made and the engine electronics need to be taken from the CLK430 donor car. The 430 V8 can be modified and supercharged gain more horse power past the 300 that you are wanting.

The 430 V8 is the same basic block as the 5.0 and 5.5L 3 valve V8s so if the 430 V8 fits they all should. Did any of these mags provide details on the conversion? Do you still have these mags?

Thanks

I'm in the process of dropping an LS1 into my 93 Mazda Rx-7. I'm doing a heads/cam package as well and am hoping for around 470 rwhp when complete.
