Question Help - In search for a "summer" tire

I am in need of replacing my tires on my SLK 230 and I was wondering which type of tire you would recommend. I have read diffrent stories about horrible tracking problems with certain tires on less than perfect roads (which accounts for 80% of the roads in the New England area), as well as problems with road noise. I have been to a few stores along with shopping and doing reasearch online and from all of this I have a few choices in mind but I wanted to see if you could give me any more input into this matter. I am looking at the Ultra High Performance as well as Max Performance tires so please tell me if I am going overkill or if I should go with a touring tire. These tires are only going to be used during the warm months and I am an agressive driver.

Thanks.

hmmm

I took a look over at tirerack.com and they have some good tires and I was looking at the S-03's as well as the Yokohama AVS ES100's and my local stores recomend the T1-S's.. So what has your experience been on your T1-S's? Would you recomend them to anyone? How has the road noise been? Hows the handling?

Thanks for replying.

well , as I said in the last post , S-03 would be my first choice, but I still think the T1-S is another best buy

last yr , I quoted the price from a shop
S-03 was can$1350 and T1-S was $1055 , both size are in front 205/55/16 and rear 2220/50/16

however , I think the T1-S would last very long , since my friend has been using it for almost 3 yrs and the wear is still in good condition , I dun know about the lasting for S-03 , but I think it is better than the S-02 at least

actually , I didn't use the T1-S for long time , only run with it for 3 months in last summer , so I think i can't tell u what I actual feel with it , but the noise and handling are good .
some of my friends using it on track , and they told me that it is very good in wet condition

anyway , I think I will get the S-03 for my next summer tires , not other reason , only I like it
hope it may help u

btw , which one r u mostly wanna take ?

Too many lumps on my head

After much research I think I am going to go with the Yokohama AVS ES100's. From a price and performance aspect I think these will do well on the slk and I will let you guys and gals know how they handle on the car. On tirerack's website I can pick up the AVS's for 360 dollars while the S03's cost around 620 dollars for a set. If I was to purchase the S03's locally then it would cost me around 710 or so. Plus I do not know how long I will be keeping the stock rims for the car so I don't see myself spending that much money on a set of tires that I will not be able to use once I upgrade the rims to a set of 17 inch rims. I will let you know next week when they are mounted on the car.

the AVS is another good choice , and hope u will like it
yes , if u will upgrade the rim to 17" , it is no way to spend much $$$ on the tires now

btw , u can also check the rank of tires in this thread

I invested in Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD.

Really satisfied, superior grip in wet conditions and i can't complain on the dry grip either!

Hmm....

After seeing this I could not help but think if he had some S-03's on his car. Plus any company who makes a video like this can't be all that bad. Click the link below to see what I mean.
