2004 Special Edition SLK
Just came back from the dealer this morning for service with the S and checkin' out the showroom, saw the new '04 SLK230 Special Edition.
Looks pretty tight. Red color, nice rims (forgot size), interior was nice. Instead of the carbon fiber trim, it was like solid silver/chrome plates where the trim usually goes. Very nice, I liked it, IMO.
I forgot if the leather was different, but it was nice and supple, side bolsters were tight.
All in all, a nice final touch to the R170.

2004 SLK Special Edition
It is a great car. I will say though that I like the machined metal trim look of the regular slk230 over the brushed aluminum in the Special Edition. the machine metal looks higher quality, over the brushed. I think the brushed would be easy to scratch whereas the machined wouldn't be as easy to scratch or easy to notice if it had been.

Yeah, it's pretty cool.
The leather is nappa. The roll bars are also covered with leather, which is a nice touch. The trim is brushed aluminum. The R171 will get brushed stainless, at least on the SLK55 AMG. That will look nice.
BTW, the SLK hasn't had the faux carbon fiber since 2000 model year.
