SLK/R170: SLK230 R170 - Alarm keeps going off

SLK230 R170 - Alarm keeps going off
Hi all, new poster here!
I have a '99 SLK230, it's garaged but since I've bought it the alarm keeps going off! also if the roof is down the alarm does not go off? Should I check the PSE Module? is this a common fault? haven't seen anything since '14 posted here so I'm just wondering if there anything I should be looking for in the PSE module other than damp? would it be something else? (battery is fuly charged, also a red light keeps flashing which i think is the alarm light)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
