Wood Trim Package

Hi,

I put my order for an SLK350 in a couple of weeks ago, and have been told I have
to finalize today.

I love the looks of the wood trip package, but am concern about having it on the
steering wheel.

1) Is it really wood that they put on the steering wheel?

2) Does it get hot in the summer? I remember plastic steering wheels in the 70's being
to hot to touch when you got in the car.

3) How well does it stand up to the constant touching?

Thanks,

Mike

FWIW, I have a wood/leather wheel on my 03 SLK 320 and it looks great and feels great. It came standard on my model, and I would always want the wood trim on any M-B. Definitely go for it!

Wood trim is great

I recently aquired an 05 with wood trim and I really like it. The wheel doesn't get overly warm in the sun and it feels very nice. I sure hope its real wood for the price of the option, but I can't say for certain.

I note that if you have the heating package there is no option for a heated steering wheel, but I preume that the wood doesn't transfer cold as much as a leather covered steel wheel so perhaps isn't as needed.
