Please advise if SLK 280 will be alright in Cleveland winter if I put winter tires?
I have a SLK 280 an I live in Chicago. Though it is terrible in snow, because the city of Chicago cleans the streets well, I never had major problems. I am moving to cleveland and am not sure if my car can handle the snow. SOmeone said that the winter tires should make a difference. Is that possible?
Please adivse.

We Chicagoans (I live in Skokie) will miss you. There have been numerous reports from SLK owners that with correct winter tires, the SLK handles quite well in shallow snow. Of course, deep snow is a problem because of limited ground clearance.

when we were still in VA, my wife's SLK32 did alright with snow tires (we used to use Blizzak's on aftermarket wheels) though when it is icy you still have to turn off the ESP and let it spin!!!!
Now in FL again, don't have to worry about Snow anymore!

Snow tires on slk
I also live in Chicago and needed to drive my SLK 208 50 miles a day to work rain or shine. I have been putting Blizzak snow tires on every winter and have had no problems with snow....as long as it isn't deeper than the front of the car.

I've driven my SLK350 for three winters in Toronto, Canada. I have a set of winter tires and I think it is fine. Put it in comfort mode, and if you have to, start in third gear.

I had the winter package from de dealer on 18 inch rims for my C43. First I needed a spacer otherwise wheels do not fit in the front due to bigger caliper than C450 so check that out. Secondly, I had Pirelli Sottozero 3 and boy were they sticky but only lasted 2 winters or 14,000 kms!!! I just got Michelin Xi3 used on Kijiji with 3,000 kms on them so saved more than half.

I live in the Utah mountains ( where Snowbird/Alta ski resorts are) and we do get a lot of snow. I had a Tesla with the Pirrelli's on them and did fine in the snow slush covered roads here. It is also a low riding vehicle but with the Tesla, you can raise the suspension enough ( unless we got a major dump of snow and roads have not been plowed at all) . I am still waiting on my 19' E63 S wagon to get here... but am ordering tires now as they are all back ordered... ( maybe sitting in long beach with all of the other AMG's being held there for months )

I live in though Jersey in an area with terrible potholes. All my previous cars have had all seasons. I have the dealership wheel and tire insurance for my new to me 2018 E63s. Anyone have experience with a Winter tire set, and MB wheel & tire insurance? Local dealer said I would need to purchase an OEM winter setup for coverage to continue. If so, is there anyway to get an OEM set used or cheaper? Could I get aftermarket rims with the stock winter tires and still have coverage? Im trying not to drop 6k on a new set through the dealer, when there are so many good aftermarket options, however I want to continue to use the wheel and tire insurance.
