how exactly does european delivery work?

hi ok well i am seriously considering getting a SLK 350 with the AMG package
i am also very interested in picking it up in germany with my gf and driving round europe a bit before coming back to canada and enjoying the ride here.

i am in serious need of a vacation as i have never been anywhere but canada and the U.S :hammer:

so how does this work? does the dealership help me out on tickets hotels ect?
do they charge more for european delivery?

also whats it like in germany in oct/nov/december?
kinda defeats the purpose of me cruising on the roads with the top down if its hailing....also whats the speed limit there?

If you are considering European delivery, there is a bit of information on the mbusa.com website...don't know about Canada.

The European delivery includes one nights stay in a hotel prior to picking up the car. It also includes 15 days insurance and registration, etc. that is explained on the web site.

October is my favorite time there and when I am going; past high season, but still decent weather...later gets riskier with weather. Speed limits vary from none on some autobahn to varied on other roads.

The one thing I would suggest is to call around dealers and find who has a European delivery specialist. I tried a few and only on the third found one that knew their way around this and was helpful. Good Luck...

The beauty of ED as I have done a couple years ago for my 03 CLK320 is that you do not have to pay above MSRP as compared to being on the waiting list here in the States if the dealer decided to do so. However, when I did it in November of 02, MB gave you two night stay at the select hotels around Europe. As an incentive for getting 7% off US MSRP (every models except the new SLK...), they reduced it to 1 night stay. I went to Baden Baden (2 and a half hours away from Stuttgart). It was a 5 stars hotel. The bottom line is that on the + side, 1 you pay MSRP 2 you do not have to pay for the destination charge, 3 you get the trip to Germany driving your MB when you are there. The - side is that you have to pay for your own airfare. Now that the Euro is stronger than the Dollar, everything just seems so expensive when I was in Paris a couple of weeks ago for class.

There is no limit at all on derestricted sections of the autobahn network. However, you will be taking it easy on a new engine, so won't be doing 155mph anyway.

if you are looking for some high-speed experiences, donīt miss some of these roads:

http://www.gec-clan.com/350z/pic/bahn-frei.jpg

these autobahns have no speed-limit and are capable for doing 300 (190 mph)and more km/h. for sure there are more, but on these it is really easy to vMax your ride. my favorite is the A44 from kassel to dortmund, most of my high-speed shots were made here.
