2002 slk 32
new owner

just purchased a 2002 slk 32 with 42k miles. does anyone have advice or wisdom as to maintenance, tires, tuning ect? Car is still in TX and will be shipping to NH when the snow stops! first MB I've owned and my wife is happy as she wanted a Benz....me...a XKR jag would have been sweet...but this model seems like it has performance....
does anyone know good fixes for adding navigation and blue tooth?

thanks...
mike

welcome to the xclusive 32 club!! once you drive the car and see it performance that jag will dissapear from thought.
go to the crossfireforum.org forum. when they stopped building the 32 they took the entire driveline and more and reskinned it as a crossfire. these guys are super friendly and race the fire out of these cars. theres entire service manuals modding parts repair diy's and so much more. for the 32 you will find more info than anywere else. look at the srt-6 section. im there daily as 32krazy!
as for nav or ipod no oem setup will fill the bill. aftermarket with slide out screens have been done but the screen will block the a/c vents. also the bose amp can be an issue. try benzworld.org also.

thanks for the info Dreamer....I know once I drive it I will say "Jag who?"...seen some sick (and silly) vids of the model on you tube plus I know it specs better than the XKR.
If you hear of any decent 1 din navs let me know as iI refuse to block vents.
It seems pretty quite for this model in this forum so I'll be checking the crossfire forum out......can't wait for spring to drive it but will give me a chance to do a few mods before I venture out.....again thank you so much 32krazy!

you could run a sl55 intake setup with devil horns. not as much flow as the needswings but still good. no grill mod needed. if you dont run the supercooler with the dual cai any grill can work
lsd is being built as we speak. wavetrac unit!! should be done hopefully by end of jan

I had a hard time getting the grill to fix back on correctly and ended up busting a couple tabs to get it to fix. Took 3 of us placing the tubs through to get this to fix correctly. Was like watching a Doberman screw a chihuahua! Haha. Overall, the product performs great and I love it.

You may want to look into changing some of the tension / idler pullies as well.

Krazy, good to see you again! :P

let joined forces with eurocharged. thats the site you need. the only diff upgrade available today is the phantom grip which isnt really an lsd. when the wavetrac comes in it will be the only game in town. if you will be able to get one after the group buy is the 64 million dollar question!
needswings intake is a complete kit. sl55 can be bought in pieces or complete your choice

lyc whats up!! got a lot of racin planned this yr!! breaking the 11's if it kills me!

Thanks LYC and 320 Dreamer......last question: since there is no spare tire--what is a good choice for ride and traction plus has a strong sidewall?

AAA costs less than a spare and run whatever tire you like. mine is a toy so it has summer tread yr round. my friend has conti all seasons and loves them.
if your street racing nitto 555r is a good choice

hey! been awhile....hope all is cool...question: i swapped out the stero head unit and when i shut the car down the key remote will only work 2 feet away. wait and hour and its back to normal. installer of the head unit can't figure it and the maker of the head unit can't figure it....have you ever heard of this?

i guess the place to start is with the key fob batteries. stereo doesn't have anything to do with the ignition unless he cut some wires during the install.

nothing as simple as batts....i have to lock with the key once i turn car off. as i wait the remote works at an ever growing distance, after an hour its back to normal. not sure what would cause the RF interference......hate to take to benz dealer..
did you ever get another 32? if i remember right you were looking.....
