Brake Upgrade from ///AMG Performace Package 030 (With PartNumbers and Prizes !!!).

Hello,

If you want to upgrade your brakes to performance package 030 (only front brakes change), here is what you need:

2* Front Discs: A 209 421 01 12 (2*812€)
1* Disc inside protection plate: A 209 420 07 44 (44€)
1* Disc inside protection plate: A 209 420 08 44 (44€)
1* Front Caliper: A 003 420 67 83 (561.45€)
1* Front Caliper: A 003 420 68 83 (561.45€)

Brake pads are the same that original A 004 420 50 20 (149€)

If I'm not wrong new discs are only perforated and not perforated and sloted like normal SLK55.

Stock are:
13.4" 340mm compound/composite two-piece perforated and ventilated front discs with AMG 6-piston fixed front calipers.

030 are:
14.2" 360mm x 32mm compound/composite two-piece perforated and ventilated front discs with AMG 6-piston calipers.
All 20% lighter than normal ones.

At rear they are the same:
13.0" ventilated rear discs with AMG 4-piston calipers.

I attach some photos. I don't know why some are sloted and some not and why the non sloted the perforated pattern is different, but I think the only one of the 030 is the last one that don't have the wheel.

Best Regards,

Ruben.

Thanks for the info. Pretty expensive stuff... I wonder if the improvement is really as big as they say. I find my brakes to be pretty damn powerful to begin with, would seem to be that the change is marginal.

Here the comercial info:

When you have such remarkable potential acceleration and speed at your disposal, you need high-performance brakes.
Which is why the SLK 55 AMG is fitted with a composite brake system at the
front axle. The cast disc is connected to the aluminium bowl and supported both axially and radially by floating bearings.
This means that it can expand under high heat without distortion. The effect:
optimum fade-resistance, less brake judder and outstanding deceleration –
thanks also to the 6-piston fixed callipers at the front brakes, which are state-ofthe- art in this class.

I agree, Shinigami, the 55's brakes are very impressive in stock form. It must be owners of a 350 or 280 that are considering this upgrade It seems to me that these would be a "downgrade" for the AMG version since the rotors are not slotted (even though the slots are in the wrong direction on one side.)

The pic that you have posted is form a 030 code? It seems the 13.4' and not 14.2'.

Best Regards.

Can someone answer me this questions:

The stock discs come? sloted? perforated? sloted and perforated?

The 030 discs come? sloted? perforated? sloted and perforated?

The picture above is a 030 car.

To answer the question:
Stock: slotted & perforated 13.4"
030: slotted & perforated 14.2" - 2 piece rotor (according to the info above)

My take on this:

When I do decide to upgrade, I would purchase the Evosport rotors (which are even lighter) but would have to purchase the new calipers. I am not sure, however, if this is possible just yet.

Thanks;

As far as I know you can purchase the calipers and put the evosport rotors for the E55, CLS55, etc...

Then I don't understand if stock and 030 are perforated and slotted why I have pictures of the SLK55 with the discs only perforated and not slotted. Any idea? (I posted some on this thread).

The 030 calipers should fit the 18' rim at the limit, no?

Do you know if this Brabus Monoblock VI multipiece rims will fit a 030 car?
622-858-30RDK 8,5J x 18 H2 offset 30
622-958-35RDK 9,5J x 18 H2 offset 35
(Brabus says they don't fit E55 that has 8 piston front calipers with 14.2 Discs).

Best Regards.

As far as I know you should be fine with either wheel you go with.

What I wonder is this now: If the upgrade consists of a 6 piston caliper, why not upgrade to a 8 piston caliper? Can anyone chime in on this?

Then it's more than offset by the increased wheel weight?!

It just doesn't make that much sense... and as said before, I am quite satisfied with the stopping power of the standard brakes. I think the brake upgrade may only affect those who track ALOT and not just the occasional AutoX, etc.
