Change your tire ASAP!

If a bubble is forming on a tire, you could be in for a very rude awakening if that tire explodes while driving on the highway during a hot day.

What's the cost of replacing one tire if you risk losing your life. F*** the tire place, just do it. If you can afford an AMG, you can afford to replace the tire right away, and if all tires are new, then you don't even need to go change them all, just the one which is bubbling.

We are all a light hearted bunch here, but the truth of the matter is that all products mentioned (spoilers, springs, coil-overs, shocks, tires, etc.) will effect handling of your car especially at high speeds. Lots of VERY good info on this forum - just need to spend some time looking for it. I posted pics on the SLK 55 photo thread if you want to see mine with Brabus/Eibachs, 19s and I believe the #1 pad in rear. Handles so great at high speeds that it was just confirmed by a 90+ mph speeding ticket....

90+

is that just the officer being nice? cuz approx 90 isn't the type of high speed I was referring to.

I was joking - agree 90+ mph is nothing. Hitting the small bump/rise at 140 mph is where I had an issue - even then it was more road quality related than a problem with the car. In any even, the car feels more planted now after the mods.

yeah

In mexico at around 150-160 is where I felt the rear was a bit loose. I'm looking to finally replacing my 030 suspension after the diffuser and rear spoiler go on.

Wow really cant get up to anywhere near those speeds on the roads here I rub when I hit a stupid bump on the freeway going 50mph... I too was thinking of getting the diffuser and spoiler but does anyone think that would be to much CF on my silver car? I mean the BS has both and it doesnt look bad. I was also thinking of getting a Kleemann front lip to give the car a little more aggressive look but I dont want to rip it off lol

Yes, very high speeds on US highways is not advisable.

As for the lip and diffuser question, I put a lip on a lowered Porsche 944 Turbo and I hit it constantantly despite approaching ramps/drive ways slowly and at extreme angles. The issue was the front over hang (distance from the contact spot of the front tire and the farthest point on the nose which is very long on most Porsche cars). A front lip will just exponentiate the problem. Fortunately the SLK has very short front and rear overhangs which make it much more tolerable; however, your car is pretty darn low so expect to hit it on occasion. I have a bigger problem with high-centering the car and scraping the rear muffler when backing out of my drive way; i have to take some measurements and visual estimates before getting the rear diffuser put on. A mild scrap on occasion should be relatively easy to touch up since the pieces are made out of black CF. I won't do the lip though; although mine is not a daily driver, it was just way too inconvenient on the 944.

lip

I dont have any experience with a diffuser(how much it scrapes) but I doubt it will be the same as the front lip. I could scrape the stock front lip even before I put on the carlsson lip.

The reality I think we all need to face is that the front lip(whomever it is) will have to replaced once in a while. if it is painted ... either throw on the protective film or you will be repainting it every year.

I've held off on the front lip spoiler because I haven't seen one that I really like and of course... the cost.

The Euroteck rear diffuser looks nice and I can't imagine it scraping at all.

CJ, No, it will not look like too much CF. Just do it.

Even with how low I am I cant imagine scraping the diffuser, if the price is right I might have to bite the bullet on the diffuser and the spoiler. As for the front lip I want something more aggressive kinda like Kleemann and not something that just follows the lines of the car.
