What's the current wait like?
 

Hey folks, I'm about a year from a new car (currently have an '01 CLK55) and I've been reading up on the SLK55, looks like a wonderful car, and the attraction of a hardtop convertible may be too much to ignore.

So the question is, roughly, what's the current wait time on placing an order? If I want to be getting a car in January '06, what's the list length to place such an order? DO I need to be dropping a deposit now, or is it six months, or what?

Haven't called my dealer yet, wanted to hear what other folks are seeing before I get them on the phone and really get the process rolling.

Dealers get build slots allocated to them for AMG vehicles.
Ask your dealer what & when they have an AMG build slot
available. Usually from the date of the build slot give
around 2 months or so from then for delivery. I'd estimate
that you would want to get a build slot around October to
have your car in January 06.

I'm in Orlando, Florida.

in vancouver, the dealership is telling me to wait a year for the 55 AMG model... :nix:

so i am debating if I should just grab a 350 first
