The SLR IMO is a Grand Tourer -- but you can eat up the track in one. This model, with its tuning, seems to be even more 'track-oriented'. I am going to talk with the folks in Affalterbach about the 722 when I'm there; and I will most likely order one for my residence which is located near Paul Ricard where they have the SLR Club headquartered - just for the halibut, to try it out. I am hoping that it is more extreme in performance, without being uncomfortably extreme on the road. I don't know about those wheels though...going to have to paint them silver or something.... |

Well been in the "old" one as a passenger on a high speed test track at AMG event day with a racing driver - and I tell you this thing is quick.
What I dont get is the weight - why go carbon fibre if it still weighs 1980kg??? Ferrari 599 is 1700kg - I just dont get it. There is no obvious area where the weight comes from to me... ??? Maybe Carbon Fibre is not so light after all... |

The kerb weight for the SLR is around 1640kg A steel structure to the equivalent bending and torsional rigidity would weigh in the region of 200-300kg more (including the outer panels) |
