Will there be 2007 SLR's?

Are SLR's still being delivered to dealers?

Will there be a 2007 model year?

ajf1 Mar 19, 2007 05:30 PM

Yes, well at least the 722s will be, they are bringing in 24 or 25 for the US. I have a copy of the ordering guide.

BiTurboAmg Mar 19, 2007 06:32 PM

So the U.S. is getting the 722? I heard that we were not getting any of the 722's. Does any one what was done to the 722's to get the extra power? Was it a simple pulley or ecu tune or maybe a bigger TB?

whoover Mar 19, 2007 08:50 PM

Press materials speak only of ECU tune. More work went into chassis and handling.

By the way on last month's AMG Private Lounge chat, Mark Ramsey (new MBUSA product manager for AMG and SLR) said:

I can tell you that Mercedes-Benz is planning to bring a very small number of SLR '722 Edition' cars to the U.S. Expect news of this in the next couple of weeks.

The next chat is Wednesday.

glassJAw Mar 19, 2007 09:38 PM

It is confirmed that 24 722's are going to be sent to the US with previous SLR owners having first dibs.

Announcing the SLR McLaren 722 Edition

I recently received a letter from Mercedes-Benz (because I'm the present owner a 2006 SLR) regarding the launch of the 722 Worldwide. :) According to my letter, "ONLY 150 '722 Edition' vehicles Worldwide will be produced!!!..... and also according to the letter, Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC will offer ONLY 24 units for sale in the United States!" :mercy: "Customer delivery is scheduled to take place in April of this year at a price of $480,000 (MSRP), plus $2750 destination and delivery charge." :naughty:

"Present owners got the first chance (limit one '722 Edition' per eligible owner!) ending on March 16th and then Mercedes will offer the '722' through the Mercedes-Benz dealer network."

It looks like a 'hell' of a machine, increased horsepower 650... up from 617), a re-tuned suspension, ? pounds lighter, Black wheels and red "722" badging, a few body enhancements and inside, copious amounts of carbon fiber :y , leather/alcantara seating and a new race-type wheel! I don't think they'll have too much trouble selling 24 units here in the 'good ole' U.S.A. The small number will certainly make them more attractive than the 'standard' SLR.

I'd be more than happy to buy one at MSRP, IF they would buy back the present SLR I own now...... for what I paid!!! Magwheel

You could sell it to me and buy the 722 for yourself. Infact why dont I just take over your loan (if you have one). When I dropped my sl off at the dealer today there was an slr there for the alternator recall (5k if it was not warranty) and they said the owner may be selling.

Thanks for the update on the 722's. I wonder if the owners of the slrs were treated good if they decided to trade the slrs they have on the new 722's or if they were taken to the cleaners on the trades or sale of them?

quickburn Mar 27, 2007 01:07 PM

WOW an slr roadster would be awesome!
Any more info on when it will be made available or price and specs?

Do you know the chassis codes for the roadster and the hardtop so I can update the forum descriptions appropriately?

Is the roadster a ragtop?

Dear god I hope not.

Germancar1 Mar 29, 2007 01:30 AM

Most definitely will be a softop, no way they're going to do a folding hardtop on this car in such short time. I doubt if one would even fit, so it has to be a softop.

well, it won't be a "short time", the roadster has been in the cards ever since the SLR Vision concept car.

Heck, go to the main page on this website... the SLR is listed under Roadsters!

MBTech21 Mar 29, 2007 10:09 PM

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys, was busy..I'll try to answer all the questions...
I don't think any discussion was given re any trade in on the old SLR for a 722..it was..here you go..you want it , step up...much like magwheel said. I think it was a reservation process, it was being handed off to the dealer then, and they hammered the actual deal out
No pics, no nothing, just a announcement that Dr Z made the announcement at the SLR owners group meeting (in Woking, I think)
It will be a R199...which is why I caught it, in the pile of e-stuff we can see every day..I saw 'R' and went ...what????
I am thinking with Germancar on this...I would say it has to be a ragtop, unless they have had the molds, etc. done from the beginning, which is NOT what we were ever told. Our current vario top, even from an SLK, would not fit in the back of this car as it is configured. And the fuel tanks are in the space behind the seats, so...something has to give here..maybe a new vario top, that stacks itself? that might work..
More info as i get it...

Slr722

we saw one of them during our november 2006 trip to AMG performance driving at hockenheimring. awesome looking machine. MB execs were gathered around the car, admiring it.

then, from the MB VIP lounge, we watched and heard it buzzing around the track in concert with one of the two orange CLK DTMs that we were given rides in.

not much else to say other than it was as if the sun shined down upon us through the overcast day.

Actually it is because MB has always maintained that there wouldn't be a droptop version of the SLR from day one. Since sales haven't been what they expected they went back to the drawing board for the droptop. Trust me it will be a soft top, not a huge investment project like a hardtop on a car like the SLR. There isn't any space for a hardtop to be stored. Where the SLR is listed here has nothing to do with anything.

Actually it does.

It means that well-informed car enthusiasts have heard some information about a roadster version of the SLR based on initial information. (probably the concept roadster)

Sure, it doesn't necessarily mean anything definitive, but you can't simply say that it has nothing to do with anything.
