CCBs in heavy rain
Hey Silver Arrows...
If you have the carbon ceramic brakes on your SLS, be careful in very heavy rain because they will be surprisingly useless for a few seconds when engaged.
I had this happen several times today while trying to pick my way from SF to LA through one insane rainstorm after another. BTW, I declare the California drought to be futha-mucking OVER...holy crap!
This only happens after prolonged driving in *very heavy rain* and not having used the brakes in a while (i.e., freeway driving). It probably didn't help that the temps were in the mid-40s.
What you'll feel when you go for the brakes is ... nothing. It's quite an alarming sensation to say the least. You'll slow down very minimally for 2 seconds and then the brakes finally begin to bite. I recommend scrubbing speed every 10 minutes or so (check your rearview mirror first!) and keep your brakes dry with some heat in them.

I made it as far as Solvang and gave up. Decided a night at the Hadsten House was far better than fighting rainy LA traffic on a Friday night. I think I chose well.
Much to my surprise, the SLS did not melt in the rain overnight. Off to SD we go!
Oh boy are these folks in for a rude surprise when I fire up the beast. lol.
