Slow drain on battery

Hi Guys,

I just got a 2012 SLS roadster, and the battery drained and threw a code now. New battery is put in. I noticed the car had a boomerang system installed. It could be draining power. Does anyone have a picture of the stock battery power cable. Mine has a small red wire lead coming off it as well as the OEM large power one. Is the small red power wire stock? I was thinking it might be for the GPS tracker? I also noticed that sometimes when I shut the car off the radio comes back on? What function is causing this? Is there a weird ACC switch on the push to start system?

here is a pic of my new beast.

Many MBs have a separate accessory circuit for the radio that stays powered with the car off until you open the door. That way you can continue to listen until you're ready to get out of the car. That's the way my '19 E63 works. Not sure if your model is wired the same way.

OK thanks mine also has the exact same red small wire. So I guess thats not the GPS power supply.

However...

Today after a drive, I parked the car, locked it, then went inside. I come out about 1hr later and I hear a fan running in the engine bay..in one of the vents at the back of the engine. What the heck is that fan? And why would it be running when the car is off and doors locked? Any ideas? Perhaps this is what the drain is? I restarted the car and then shut it down and locked the car again, and the fan stopped?

here is the vent where the fan is running

I have only heard my fan running once or twice after I've shut off the car. It's been super rare. I'm SoCal. Where do you live What kind of heat were you running in? I'm not a mechanic or even mechanical so I might not be that much help but, at least we can compare apples to apples
