You should pop down to Irvine to visit the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Irvine.

They are the M-B factory authorized/owned USA Restoration center; they did the mechanical restoration of my 250 SL and had min 10 300 SL Gullwing/Roadsters being restored when I visited.
Actually they service the SLS as well; I believe they are M-B warranty center as well.
Cool price graphs on 300 SL

I may just stop in there (Irvine) - perhaps I should go next week to get my transmission update and do some poking around in the restoration center while I wait.

Cool; they have sales showroom of like factory new as well.
Call ahead and make sure they can accommodate you.
Jeff Cote is the Service Manager. If it's a specific dealer diagnostic system they don't have, they also refer to M-B Laguna Niguel.

UPDATE II:
Took a '12 Imola Grey/Tan woven Designo for a test drive today; first drive in a SLS.
This is a very clean expample, with spotless interior; excellent paint and only light wear on front lower fascia. The SLS in grey and silver really highlights the car; and makes its scale standout.
First off, the start-up exhaust is a near exact sound of the Ford GT; very deep and a bit raspier.
Went for a nice crusie on broad straightaways towards Topanga Cyn; with many switchbacks, gradients, and wide open throttle. Again, acceleration was utterly linear and on par with GT.
Chassis feels rock solid; tried transmission in C, C+, S and honestly didnt feel any hesitation, except in parking lot rolling around. Ceramic brakes were very grabby and shuddered a bit even on rolling stops in lot; pads may have glazed.
Overall, its a 100% confimation to buy the SLS; steering feedback, driveline, chassis, torque acceleration...all world class.
A test drive makes a world of difference!
Now to find: Iridium Silver, Black, Five spoke base wheels.....

Looks like a beautiful car. Alubeam and almost every option. High mileage and structural damage. That car just ran through an auction and sold.

Now days you won't find a SLS with less than 10k miles for less than 150 (2011).
