SLS AMG and fresh rubber… Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S
Took for what seems like forever, to get the S4 in SLS AMG sizes. My Dunlop’s have been a little on the smooth side for far too long. I didn’t want to go with the outgoing Pilots; I wanted some super fresh rubber as these will be on the SLS for a long time. This is a “cosmetic review” as it will take me awhile to break them in.

First the outgoing….
The Dunlop Sport Maxx GT were outstanding tires:
For the first 18,000 miles then the last 2,000 they got a little thin. The fronts were still above the wear bar.
A “little thin”
As a fellow SLS owner said.. "You got your moneys worth!"
Really I don’t have much to tell you. There will be no way to compare the Dunlop’s and S4’s because I turned the Sport Maxx GT into slicks long ago.
It will take me a while to break in the 4 S before I jump on them so, best …I just post up the pics.
265's pounds and ounces
295's
By the way I knew my OEM black 10 spokes Code 767 were extra nice cause... they were made in Italy!! Go figure..
Some random Suspension pics..
A big shout out to Sal and ASAP Tires. They are mobile and do great/flawless work! https://www.yelp.com/biz/asap-tire-la-habra
BUT best of all the Pilot Sport 4 S makes an awesome tunnel!

Nice looking tires. I want to try the RE-71r, except I want to see if I can fit a 325/25 in the rear.
On a side note, I think your rotors are pretty worn out. Are you changing pads without rotors or do they wear that much on a set of pads?

Holy cow your Dunlops were done....in fact, pretty scary looking. These new PS4 are supposed to be incredible. I didnt know that there is a break in period for those tires though. Can you elaborate?

My Quattroporte used to chew through tires and that wear pattern was nearly identical, despite alignments. I finally asked the shop to dial out some of the aggressive setup to get more miles out of a set.
