Anyone get their airbag(s) replaced?
I got a notice that said airbags should be ready for my car this June, and I think I was in a lower priority zone. Wondering if anyone in the higher priority zones actually had their airbags replaced to see if the airbags are actually available now.

Had mine replaced at the end of last week. It was a 2 day affair and apparently required the removal and re-installation of a majority of the dash, etc. Replaced under warranty by Mercedes Benz of Tucson. Pretty painless and got my rattle repaired and a fuse replaced while there.

Official notice is from Mercedes Benz USA, also has the NHTSA logo on it. Says "Remedy parts are now available". Gives a recall campaign number. Does not seem to be very tailored to me, so I suspect the airbags are available to any SLS owner that wants one. It also says "Urgent" and "Schedule an appointment immediately". It's urgent, but it took them years to get the parts.....

I had mine replaced last month.. it took the dealership 3 days as they have to take out the entire dashboard for that job. Everything looks good and they also replace the steering wheel in same time!

I was told by a very reliable source that it's impossible to remove the dash and related components necessary to replace the airbag without breaking the tabs that hold some part of the center dash area around the screen(?). After my discussion with this person, and based upon the fact that I rarely drive my SLS, I decided to not replace the airbag.

Finally called this past June to the MB dealer to get my airbag replaced. They said they didn't have any. (althoughed i'd received mailers telling me I must do it!) . But they had ordered some and they would be in the next week. So I made the 8 hour drive (Key West to Tampa) to collect my car and take it to them the next week. Shoed up at dealer. They said they didn't have any. Finally 2 months later they called and said they had some. I said it would be awhile until I was in town again. So now I'm ready to do it... and the guy (who called me and said they had them in) now says "Did you call us already about this?". I said he had called me and told me they were in. I asked if I could come in this week, he said sure. I asked how long it would take. He said 2 hours.
This is supposedly the MB dealership repair guy. Where/who is Mr. Takata and can I hit him on the head?

Had mine replaced on my SLS Black Series last month. Took 1 day. Steering wheel and dash look perfect. No rattles whatsoever on bumps. Very happy. If you have it done on your car then take it to a dealer that sold a bunch of SLS' and ask for a tech that has done it on an SLS before.

I had mine replaced on 2 coupes and one roadster, all timely, no big deal, but I kept calling my service advisor and when they called that they had them, I came immediately.

Airbags and transmission update
Had mine replaced and it took about 2 days. Apparently Mercedes doesn't give them a specific amount of hours in order to complete the service. They said the total is about 14 hours typically.
While they had the car, I also had them do the transmission software update and the car runs great.
Update: The trunk release doesn't work either via dash or fob...to be continued...
5/15/21 Update: When I had used the manual key between the seats, I had inadvertently locked the trunk such that the fob wouldn't open it. Once I turned it further clockwise, the fob worked again. Glad to have that fixed.
