merc spec 10w40 for engine in most conditions
sae 80/85 for manual gearbox
sae 75/80 for axles
multigrade hypoid 75/85 or 70/80 works for both gearbox and axles.

Oil spec is standard mineral oil.
semi synthetic is better than standard
fully synthetic is better than semi

It is a waste of effort and money to use fully synthetic in engines designed for mineral oils but semi synthetic can be well worth the extra.

Use 50% antifreeze solution all year - NOT methanol based except in high arctic type environments.

Use proper screenwas as due to long pipes detergent (washing up liquid) can go mouldy in the tubes (black gunge)

Front tyres often look flat so invest in a set of "indicating" valve caps
Fully Synthetic gear oils outperform standard gear oils by a wide margin.

"Magnetec" oils are superior in some engines but occassionaly people complain that they get "sluggish" after a few thousand miles... I've never had this problem.
