Brand new used 1970 280S "Garage Find"

Im not a newbie since I did have a C32 a few years ago. Some of you may remember.

Anyway, I sold it and went MB'less for awhile. But I have way to many MB shirts and hats and stuff. I had to buy aniother one...

Kidding aside and long story short...

I came across this sweet 100 PERCENT Arizona Mercedes 280s. It was in the middle of a restoration when it ended up in a garage and stayed there for many years.

After some chatting with the "owner" I booked a flight to PHX and flew down there in 24 hours. 30 hours later I was driving it back to San Francisco.

More about the car later. Just enjoy the pics.

No... not the car. I pulled into a T/A Truck Stop facility and went to sleep for a few hours.

Thanks. I searched for a couple months. Looking at many many cars. Hiring appraisers from out of state to look at some cars too. Spent some time and money to get the right one. And then this one appeared!

I dont know the total mileage. The odometer was not working. But my guess is somewhere around 250K. The motor had about 3k miles on it. Completely rebuilt. The block was Magnafluxed. The head rebuilt. Carbs... everything.

The car is a 1970. Is had been repainted. But all of the chrome and rubber was removed. New chrome replaced the old and the large parts were rechromed. It received a new interior kit also.

So far I have replaced all of the suspension bushings and installed four new Bilsteins. I also dropped the suspension 2 inches (no haters!) I just installed a set of older and refurbished BBS 16x8 wheels.

I rebuilt the factory AC and had it recharged. It blows cold to 52*

I have a few more things I want to do but now its wintertime and I am building a bathroom in my Motorsports ManCave.

Here are some updated pics.

Congratulation....even with a few used looking interiors, the car looks so beautiful in the images.

Cool car. I have a 69 SL. The biggest thing I can recommend is to paint the caps/wheels the same color of the car

Yes... I agree. Currently have a set of vintage BBS wheels on the car. They fit great and hold a nice tire too. Planning on having the stock steels refurbished before I put them back on. Then the restored BBS wheels will be up for sale.

Details for those interested...

Completely restored, professionally painted and polished and clear coated.
16x8
ET11 Offset.
5x112 standard Mercedes bolt pattern
Tires are new Falkens, 205/55 F 225/50 R

So yes, it will fit pretty much any of the older cars. My car is a stock ET32 (?) and these sit in there perfect with NO RUBBING AT ALL. And I am lowered 3 inches too.

Ciao!
