is 58k a good price for a 2000 e55?

I'm just about to buy a 2000 e55 with 17,000 miles , 3-year Starmark warranty, COMAND, K2a. Condition is excellent, tires fresh. Is $58k a good price? I saw the post about the poor residual value for the COMAND, but really want to have one.

That price seems reasonable granted its fully loaded and as you said in clean condition. The true test is how was the engine handled but in most cases AMG engines are bulletproof so you should be OK.
By the way, what's the color?? I have seen 2001 E55's for as low as 60-64k but they were all white in color. The Brilliant Silver is the most popular color and usually the dealers will sell them for a little more.

Per Kelley Blue Book.Com the estimated trade-in value of a 2000 E55 with the equipment you stated is about the same as the price you mentioned. Generally a dealer will take these cars (E55's) in for much less so you might have some bargaining room. It depends on where you live and what the demand is for the E55.

You can go to this site and enter in the equipment you have to get a reasonable idea of what a car is worth as a trade in.

it's brilliant silver, solid black interior. i was aware of the kbb price, but don't know how reflective of the market that is.

Also see www.edmunds.com. Keep in mind though, the values on these sites are ususally a little high as dealers ususally pay much less. As far as $58k, sounds like a very fair price and it is the car you want. But, I do have one question, why the need for NAV? I know the dash looks cleaner but most people find the mercedes command system both confusing and useless. Also, as you mentioned, on resale, many potential buyers may shy away from a car with command. Anyway, just my thoughts, hope your purchase goes well, you will enjoy one of the best cars on the planet. Regards

For anyone as a reply to initial post, does the mercedes command system not also add a lot of weight to the car?

Hell no! It replaces the HVAC and radio/telephone controls. I don't believe that there is any other hardware that is different with command. All MB vehicles have the GPS receiver and antenna anyway. That's why teleaid can tell who and where you are.

Thnaks fopr the info Rich, I had no idea, I had heard it added quite a bit of weight, guess I was wrong.
