? on lowering by 2002 E55
Hey All,
I've searched the forum about how to lower the car but much of it is above my head (I'm not really "car guy"). I would like to lower the car an inch or so but I don't know how to do it or how much it will cost.
1) how should I get started in getting it done (buy/research parts online, take it to a local performance shop, etc)?
2) about how much $ will I need to spend (I'm sure it depends on various factors)?
3) will my ride be bumpy and less smooth or can I keep it similar to the stock feel (I don't want to compromise ride quality too much)?

Try searching for a shop who specializes in Benzs and get a combination of Bilsteain shocks and H&R springs. Should help lower the car. If you need to lower it more then change the pads. Your shop should have an idea of what you need. Good luck.

welcome felthove, I have not done much to my E55 but at the top of my list is the Kleemann setup.

Since I know just about zero about cars, what will I get out of the new springs -- a lower ride? What is the purpose of springs?
And what will the new shocks or dampers do for me -- tighten my ride, or will they lower it too? Thanks all.

the springs lower and make firmer. The shocks also tighten. This is done to get a more performance ride and handling and less roll or lean in the turns. You lose some comfort.
