CLK63 Black, E350 Wagon, Supercharged Denali, Lotus Elise, Tesla Model 3 Dual-Motor.
I have a RennTECH 93 500E with the full RennTECH 6.0 motor upgrade and have been daily driving it for ever. It now has 70K miles still goes like stink.

Any Mercedes dealer can service a RennTECH as they use mostly european Mercedes parts.

I have a '97 E60RS. HAd it over three years. Definitely daily driver if you want it to be.

Comfort? Depends on the suspension package. Is this the low mileage car on ebay, a black car? Engine is pretty much same as the 500E 6 litre motor mentioned above, except for a different intake manifold, a different airbox, different fuel injection, and the no distributor ignition.

Mine has been very reliable, but won't have some of the creature comforts of your '02, no paddle shift, no navigation, plus the problems the early W210 cars had, blower relays, window regulators and weak turn signal stalk (all of which I had to fix on my car).

Overheating? Not a chance, better cooling than stock. Servicing? Not much to do, change the oil thats about it, I've have done approx. 10K miles on mine in the last three years, from 52k to 62k, just changed fluids and that was it, maybe a belt tensioner as well.

One thing about these cars, unless they are low mileage they can loose their value quickly, so if you make it a daily driver, watch the mileage.

If you need any more info ( I have a stack of it, articles etc) let me know.

I can't answer all of your questions (esp. the last one - I, personally, would keep the E55 and upgrade the brakes ... maybe add a supercharger, if anything) but I CAN advise you to check the suspension CAREFULLY ... make sure there are no cracks, excessive wear, etc.

Porting and polishing refers to matching the intake manifold ports to the cylinder head ports, and smoothing the metal, all for better airflow. It doesn't mean that you can't drive the car every day.
