Wheel Offset's on 01 E55

Hey guys, I'm looking at a set of wheels that have a 38mm rear and 35mm front offset. If understand right, my 01 E55 has a factory 35mm rear and 33mm front.

Would I need to have a spacer to make these wheels fit properly? Or is the 2 and 3 mm's difference even going to be noticeable?

Thanks
Steve

W210 E55 OEM offsets are 35mm rear/ 31mm front. I would venture to guess that your proposed aftermarket offsets may fit. However, there are other factors to consider: rim design, rim diameter, rim width, lug bolt requirements, and tire specifications. OEM rim design is extremely precise in terms of compatibility with OEM suspension specs. Finally, IMHO, spacers are never a good idea on a W210 E55.

Dpeneds..

It all depends in the width of the rims themselves, you have to remember that the stock setup and offsets are for 8 Front and 9 " rear wheels widths . it you go to 8.5" you have to recalculate the offsets and adjust accordingly.ex. two front wheels , one 8 wide and the other 8.5" ,same offset ( 31mm ) , the latter will be 1/4" in and out of the hub compared to the other. Same thing with the rear of course except that you have a bit more room to play.

The wheels I am looking at are a 19" staggered set. The rears are a 19 x 10 with a 38MM offset and the fronts are a 19 x 8.5 with a 35MM offset.

What do you guys think? Will they fit?

Well, gandalf, ruBenz has some very sage advice regarding the difficulty in answering your question...without telling us which wheels, manufacturer and design, it is not a simple yes or no.

Ultimately, your best bet to get accurate information would be to do what i was advised to do regarding the same type of question....call the manufacturer of the wheels and ask them if they know. That's what I did with regards to the 19" HRE's I picked up recently.

Max, did they change widths on the '01 vs the '00 E55? My '00 E55 AMG OE wheels are 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 wheels with the offsets that ruBENZ stated, 31mm fronts and 35mm rears.

Gandalf, The Daytonas are great looking wheels, I have the Sprints on my car. My guess is that the 38mm offset for the fronts might give you some problems, it is " IN ' more than OEM which is good because thats fixable with a spacer upfront 8/10/12/0r even 15mm ( DONT USE CHEAP ONES !!!! ) , that of course if you are willing to use spacers, I think the rears will be OK. Remember though with Iforgeds chances are you will also need Hub rings for the Benz hubs @ 66.5mm, unless they are included with the wheels.

For the record, 2000, 2001, 2002 W210 E55 AMG OEM rim specifications are:

ALLOY WHEELS (5X112):

AMG Monoblock II

18x8.0 et31 - Front 25.0 lbs
#65239

18x9.0 et35 - Rear 26.5 lbs
#65240

Center Bore - 66.56mm

Ball* seat lug bolts: 12mm x 1.5 x 40mm (1.5")

*Note: Most, if not all, aftermarket MBZ rims will require acorn seat lug bolts.

Hey guys, just out of curiosity, would a set of 19" Avus wheels from a 04 CL55 fit? The owner does not know the offset's. Do CL's and E's typically have similar fitment?

:y +1 Max has great advice. H&R has spacers and you would need them for sure to push those babies back out towards the fender. If you are lowered, how far you go will be limited. Personally, I would wait for a set of wheels that don't need spacers. But if you only drive on the street then they may be just fine for you.

You are correct. But I sold those wheels at least 3-4 years ago. I think they were Superleggara gen 1's. That's a sale I regret as well as two sets of Forgeline's that I also miss..

I stand corrected, Max and ruBENZ. Thank you for correcting my error. I did not mean to misinform. I have had SO many different wheels I mistook them with a number of the other wheels I had. ME:X My bad.

I agree, not a big fan of spacers. It's just that I keep seeing so many wheels come across the used market at great prices and I just can't decide which ones to get!:nix:

Thanks for the knowledge guy's. It saves alot of headaches!

I'm looking to get these, but don't know what offset to go with, I want the wider rim, for the more aggressive look, i'm thinking 19" 9.5 and 10? what do you guys think..

For your front wheel, I would venture a guess of about 23mm. Nonetheless, a 9.5 will require a minimum tire section width of 265....it's going to rub. And, a 245 (the W210 E55 maximum front tire section width) will leave a gap of about 3/4 inch between the bead of the tire and the lip of the rim...not aesthetically pleasing. No need to address the rear fitment. Your proposed setup is ain' gonna work.
