2001 E55 with CL wheels- Large Pics inside...

Well I had a small amount of credit with the place where I get wheels so I decided to get a 2nd set of wheels to offset my BBS 19's. I didnt have a ton of credit so I figured I'd get something that looks different than the BBS but also maybe keeps the lines of my car looking good. Of course I need tires too so I went with arguably the best out there, Pole Position S03's. Since I own an E55 I figured why not get some AMG wheels. I already had the Monoblock II's so I looked into the CL style wheels and they are great looking wheels and do not cost an arm and a leg either. I love my BBS and still think they are the better looking wheel but you can't go wrong with the CL's either. Ill post more pics, these came out OK but I was borrowing a buddies digital camera.

Beautiful. How much do they weigh vs. the LMs?

JamE55 02-04-2002 04:14 PM

Hey hmrdwn they are about 6 lbs per wheel heavier so a total of about 25 lbs.

very nice.

Vick, Vick55, now that you addedadditonal 25lb on the wheels and probably 4 pounds more per SO3 versus pirellllllis, do you feel now that you move like an old man, after all you have added probably close to 40lb of unsprunnnnnnnnnnng weight to the suspention, to believe some "ryders" that would have to bring you to a virtual stand stilllll or you do not notice the difference?

Fast Eddy 02-05-2002 02:40 PM

I do think that that rear spoiler makes car look older hten it is

I dont know about the tire weight difference maybe someone who has that info can elaborate but the extra 25 lbs is negligible at best. If there is a sizeable tire weight difference then one may lose a 1/10th of second in a quarter mile and/or 0-60 test. I already have the much lighter BBS wheels too. I just wanted a set of factory AMG wheels.

Hey Patz the tint is 30% on all the doors and 25% in the rear. My guy who has tinted my cars for 10 years said to go one level darker in the rear to reduce all the glare. The rear window is the largest of the tintable windows and allows in the most light. It works out very nice.

VICK, to tint rear window does it have to be removed?

No your local tint shop should be able to curve a full piece and fit it perfectly. On other cars where the rear window is more concave tint shops usually have use 2 pieces to get the fit done correctly. The rear of the W210 is relatively flat and they just apply it from the back seat.
If the tint shop required the removal of the glass I would never get tint since once the original seal is broken its never the same again.

Vick, thank you and if its done rightl it will never bubble, like I 've seen on some cars?

Fast Eddy 02-11-2002 12:37 PM

One more thing, I like you new CL wheels better then the LM's, CL's a re simplier and make the car look sportier. Htere will always be too much "web" for my taste on any BBS rim and that just looks old to me. CL rim definitly gives "clean" look.

Fast Eddy 02-11-2002 12:39 PM

and say what you may on SO3's versus Pirelli's, any noticable difference?

Hey Eddy thanks for the compliments on the CL's. A lot of people like the BBS too though. All opinions are welcome and I am glad I can have the best of both worlds. Here is a link to my post on the new S03's vs the Rosso's.
