looking to buy a e55 w210 4matic!!
Hi guys!
I am from sweden here and am new in the forum. I am gonna go right to the point. I found a merc w210 2001 E55 but it is a 4 matic (as I just found after googling the car, found that it was only 15 manufactured by MB E55 +4matic). Anyway the car is in a SUPER condition. driven only a couple of times by its old man owner since 2005. Abowt 8k milage. He wants to sell it for about 15000. My question is. Is it worth it?? BTW NO RUST AT ALL!! THANX |
Wow an e55 w210 4-matic
I never heard of this, post some pics |

Look for the bump on the carpet on the passenger side near the middle gear console. This is the 4matic gear. It is not seen on the usual e55s. |
Sweet!!

If that is the original mileage then great, seems enticing but when things breakdown be prepared to have a slush fund of $10,000 over five years
The plus side it that it costs you very little in maintenance and this becomes more of a deal as each year goes by Of course I would go in offering $10,000... See where the negotiations go |

Nice one! does it have the Airmatic suspension?
A 4Matic E55, That's very very very rare :) Good luck. |
thats a whole lot of buttons. I'm surprised no one has just done a engine swap into a e430 4matic to make a DIY e55 4-matic.

Great idea..:y,
Simply; Can get 89-02 E430 4matic, then swap the Engine to 5.4l, it will work perfectly, cause both got 2.82 diff. ratio, with same TCU data/file..:) ZAYED,, |
I had 2 station wagon's here in Norway.
Still have one left. You can se them on YouTube. I have to say they are amazing and not what people think of them because of the age. I bought the first one because of traction problem on snow. It's incredible how fast I can pass other cars now. It's so steady and comfortable compared to other cars from that period. Love them. Want change it for any newer one. The steering, seats, space is so much better than later ones, but shock absorption and noise reduction is not as good as a newer Mercedes . Not milage consumption either. :) I'm thinking of buying one more. Yeah. I'm crazy. :) But bottom line. 4matic is the one to go for. Not the rear wheel drive unless you are looking for a drifting car. :) But there are more 4matic's out there than there are sold. Look in the data card for 030. Many 430 that was rebuild later. But they don't have any indication of E55 or AMG on the data card and doesn't have the same value. |
I have also a S210 E55 4matic ... confirmed by AMG that it is an original one.
To check if this one is converted by AMG (the where delivered to AMG as E430 and where converted to E55's in Afalterbach!) you just need to check the Datacard, it MUST have Code "030 AMG - MAJOR ASSEMBLY V8-M55/V12-M63" and have the correct Engine Number in the Datacard ... 113 980 instead of 113 940 ... and the Sales Designation is " E 55 AMG 4MATIC" altough it has a E430 VIN Code... if this is not the case it is no original AMG build 4matic. If you provide the VIN i could check... greetings, Fabian |
I agree with you, but you can see some of these rebuilt ones still are confirmed as AMG because they have done the same treatment on that AMG facilities.
But then again not the same. In Norway there are people that have bought cars believing it's one of the few originals. Even though they have no paperwork on it. One easy way is to look at the speedo. The rebuilt ones I have seen have all 320 speedo instead of 280,but I haven't seen them all. :) |
Mine has also a 320km/h speedo but it was retrofitted by "Kicherer Autotechnik", it also has the Kicherer Logo and was done because of getting official rid of th limiter at 250km/h, the car has 276km/h in the paperworks as v/max and because of that they have to switch the Speedo to 320km/h.
First thing i tought was that the car was completly done by kicherer, i had the car for alsmost a year until i found out that it was one of the original AMGs ;) ... paid 2800Euro for it :D greetings, Fabian |

Hi,
I was always wondering what was the suspetion set up of the E55 4m. I have S210 E430 4m and they made these higher in the suspention then RWD versions. To be exact, it is 8 mm higher in the rear and 18 mm in the front. I would love to get it to E55 4m height. Can you find out the part numbers of original suspention by the VIN code? Or would you provide me with your VIN, so I can check? I just need VIN of one real (not fake) E55 4matic. thank you.
