Weistec supercharger in a 99 e55 amg
Okay so I got a weistec supercharger and I'm putting it on my 99 e55 I just wanna know do I have too sleeve the motor or can o just put forged rods and pistons and I'm good to go
|
i would sleeve. If you don't, the ONLY pistons I would use are Kolbenschmidt or Mahle. Both will be super expensive. It's very hard to find someone who knows how to rehone/bore an alusil engine. Sleeving takes all the guess work out of the equation. Not to mention, it will be very durable and probably cheaper in the end.

Cool. What are you doing for tuning? Are they going to tune your stock ecu?

Unfortunate; can't get ECU alone, have to get all Key/EZS/EIS system, for fire-up Authorization via DAS..!

Agreeeeeeeed..:)

Not that simple either. The CAN bus has a different id setup for things like transmission. Shifter, etc. You might be able to use the tcu from the e55 and the shifter. I am not sure if the traction data is the same. Cluster wont work etc. etc. Some ecus can be set for either id structure but I do not know about the 55k.

Wouldn't he need to change the entire loom of the car for his method to work? Even then it's a big risk?

The N/A 55 engine has to be sleeved and needs forged rods Pistons so it could work so I got the 55k motor think I still don't need to do that I still sleeved the 55k motor got forged rods and Pistons polished the crankshaft got a transmission from a 06 sl65 beefed up the tranny rear end was kept the same just got a quaife lsd got H&R sway bars back and rear kW coilovers an for exhaust system I might take it to a local exhaust shop and get a custom exhaust system so it can look nice with the body kit I got it I want to go dual exhaust just sent it out to get put together pictures coming really soon and hopefully I hit mid 9s that's what I'm aiming for
The Kleemann supercharger setup I have runs boost levels which are safe enough for the stock N/A block/cylinders/pistons to handle, which I thought made things much simpler. My ECU remap was written by Kleemann too, but rather than sending them the whole unit I found someone local who could load the modified map and tables Kleemann created based on my stock file. I have discussed the areas of sleeving, piston upgrades, and torque converter/gearbox upgrades with forum member Zayed [Cm60k] in depth too. All of which are on my to-do-list, so I'll be following your work for input, that's for certain. Just to be clear, you now have an M113K engined W210, and are bolting the Weistec to the M113K block? You're not running an N/A M113? |

Your modification list is similar to mine actually. I fitted a Kleemann kit to my car over Weistec however - after being made to feel quite disrespected by Weistec when trying to get any kind of customer service from them, I took my money elsewhere.

I see! The engine swap was a smart move, you're absolutely right that it saves a lot of work, since the 113K comes with the forged bits etc as standard. I spoke to forum member Zayed (Cm60K) about an engine and transmission swap for my car too - but for now, my N/A M113 with the Kleemann S/C fitted is solid - so I'll continue as is and look at a swap if the requirement ever arises. Zayed did inform me that the transmission and torque converter upgrade would be necessary sooner than an engine swap, simply because with the level of modifications my car runs pushes the stock converter and transmission to its limit.

When you say shifter, are you referring to the possibility of paddle shift etc?

If you have done the engine and transmission swap, I'm sure that the ECU/TCU and loom modifications required to get everything working would allow you to add the Tiptronic system to you car I assume. You could even look at fitting the steering wheel paddle shift from the W211, but that would be considerably more work, especially ECU/TCU wise. In reference to your current pre-facelift gear-shifter housing (interior), how does it compare size and styling wise to the facelift version, would that be an easy fitment? By this I mean the wood finishing etc around the gear stick itself. |
