E55 motor vs e430 motor
I'm wondering, what core components do the 2 share? I'm assuming the 5.5 is a bored out 4.3 or did AMG build an entirely new block?
If the blocks are the same/similar what internal components are different? Forged crank and rods? more aggressive cams? More valves?

Block, Heads, Crankshaft, Cams, Pistons, Rods ... all different.
Similar are the Valves, Headers, waterpump, oilfilter, nearly every attachments like generator, starter, coils and so on.
The 5.0 Litre Engine from W211 and the 5.5 N/A Engine have the same bore but different crankshaft, piston, rods and cams.

As previously stated, the 430 and 55 NA engines have very little in common. Different cranks, pistons, blocks, cams, and rockers. My 2012 EPC shows
If I'm not mistaken, some AMG parts are NLA and in their place the factory only offers the non-AMG part. For example, the original equipment 55 mass airflow sensor used to be unique. Now dealers only offer part # 1130940048
- The 320, 430, 500, and 55 (non-K) engines all use the same rods (part # WA1130300020)
- Same rod bearings (part #1130300060)
- 430, 500, and 55 use the same lifters (intake part # 1130500080, exhaust part # 1130500380)
- The C43 AMG oil pump is the same as the CLK55 (part #1131800401) and since the W210/W208 oil pans are similar both halves of the pump should be the same. But the non-AMG 430 pump is definitely different.
- The timing chain, oil pump chain and the intake and exhaust manifolds are the same. Specifically, the exhaust manifolds for a CLK430/55 are the same. I don't know about the E430/55
- The 500 shows the same castings as the 55 heads (left 1130102020 / right 1130102120). However, the C43 and 430 show the same head castings, but the roof of the exhaust port on the C43 is definitely different than a standard 430 exhaust port. I’ve never compared a 55 and 500 head.
- The 500, 55, and 55K intake (part #1130530601) and exhaust (part # 1130500327) valves are the same. I've found very few 55K parts that are the same as the NA 55. 55K valve springs differ (dual versus single)
- The ME 2.8 injectors are different (430 and 500’s flow 206 cc’s while the pale yellow 55’s flow 259)
