NGK or Bosch plugs for E55
Finally made an account here instead of just trolling for answers. I have a 2002 E55. Been searching all over for some current opinions on spark plugs. Its that time to change my plugs. I know NGK was the OE for Benz in 02 when the car was manufactured and now it is Bosch which Benz now recommends for this car.
What is the best plugs for this car? I am looking at:
NGK (7090-4PK) BKR5EGP
or
Bosch 0242230500 / FR8DPP33+
Wires? Bosch?
Thanks in advanced for the help and yes ive read every plug thread on here. Any tips on changing these on the e55 with alum heads?
My Babe

MBWorld Fanatic!
I have read that the Bosch 7422 is the same as FR8DPP33 I changed mine with the 7422 and have experienced no problems as of yet. To remove the spark wire safely, you'll need this and to make your life easier removing the plug, you could benefit from this.
The wrench gives you the gentle leverage and the socket gives you angle. I believe its 20ft.lb torque on the way back in. Its tight but I was able to get a 4in extension to work with a normal spark plug socket and torque wrench.
Check your valve cover gaskets and breather covers for leaks while your in the area.
Good Luck!

I don't think they are sold in the US?
If I'm not wrong, for US market cars NGK has a different partnumber than eüro version PFR5R-11 plugs.
NGK PFR5R-11, the Lazer Platinum plugs do they work great on all M113 engines, from C43 to E55?
I have these NGK but have not changed plugs yet.

I recently did my plugs. I used the Bosch dbl platinum in my '01 Check your 2 motor mounts if they are bad, good time to change one side at a time, replacing plugs on the same side you are changing plugs. There are some good write ups out there for this job

Finally had time to do the spark plugs! What a smooth difference it made. I ended up getting the NGK's and Bosch wires.
The jobs was not difficult and pretty easy. My suggestions are to just take your time and You MUST get the spark plug boot wrench, it would have been next to impossible. Make sure you blow out all the dirt with compressed air after you take the wire off.
