Fuses 4 and 7 under the rear seat supply power to the instrument cluster. You'd have to pull one or both to stop the power drain.
The instrument cluster pixels are electronically driven. I would suggest swapping your cluster for another cluster if you know another person with a W210. If the problem goes away, it's the cluster and you will need to replace with a salvage cluster or locate a shop that can repair.

Thanks for the info, this just happened during the cold weather here in Pittsburgh. I'll pull the fuses and replace them then see if a new cluster is needed. Regards Drake
