E55
Went to the drags tonight.

Went to Auto Club speedway for their quarter mile nights event. The car is 2000 E55 stock. The car went 14.3 at almost 98 mph.
My time slip is on the right.
Not bad for 255,000 miles and original factory plugs, and 87 octane, and an 80 pound sub box in the trunk. Can't complain, this car had been good to me.
I'm sure I could squeeze more out if I tried, but I like the reliability and over 20 mpg.
Technology has definitely caught up to our N/A cars. Stock N/A mustangs and SRT Chargers were running 12's.
I'll stick with my oldie though, see
how far it'll take me.

Change the plugs, coil packs, and run premium. You should be able to run significantly faster. I too ran the factory plugs up to around 190k miles but changed the plug wires, plugs, and all coil packs. It really made the car run much stronger.

I have no idea how you are running regular unleaded. Mine pings like heck if I try to run anything other than premium. My car has over 200k miles.

I agree with BlownV8. I have to imagine that those plugs are toast after that many miles.

Why do you run 87 in it when they're supposed to use premium?

I never run anything except for premium. But yesterday (of all days) for some reason, I decided to fill up with 87, I think I got sticker shock at the pump. gas is almost $4 a gallon here in SoCal. This car has just become a comfortable commuter for me. But I'll change the plugs and get some 100 at the local Unocal 76. See how she does at the next one.

If it runs fine on 87 might as well keep using it. I've always put premium in mine, but I also don't drive that much and get 2 tanks of gas a month from my work. I usually pay for 1 tank a month so paying more for premium is no big deal to me.

Your E55 should be running mid- high 13's. My W202 C43 will run a 14.3 with 50 less HP and 90 lb/ft less torque

I think its awesome to see a car that is bone stock. runs on regular gas and has 255k on the engine...never change original plugs and coil packs and still do 14 and change
Yup, kudos to the hand built German piece of machinery . ,
