Question about wheels on a E55
 

hey guys my brother has a 2001 E55 and found a good deal on 19x9.5 all around wheels ET35, now i know the back will fit no issues but would they fit in front? any help would be greatly appreciated

there's a reason why AMG had 8" in the front and 9" in the rear.
if front wheel sticks outside the fender wheel arch you will have road rash and chipped paint.
wide rims are cool as long as they don't stick out.
w210 is a bigger car, wheelarches are wider, a 9" rim with proper ET will probably fit OK.
getting wider is maaaaaaybe not optimal?

Brabus 8.5" wide in front is ok on my w202 AMG

8.5 et 38 fits fine on my car with a little space to spare on the outside. It is really closed to the bolt on the upper control arm.

I measured to see what wheel and tire sizes I could realistically fit without modifying the suspension or wheel wells.The wheel arches were rolled after the bodies arrived in Affalterbach for assembly as E55s, and there seem to be some minor differences between individual cars. On mine, I cannot fit a 8.5" wheel in the front unless I offset by a couple of millimeters and continue to run a 245 tire on it. A 9 inch wide rim will not fit on mine unless I run something like a 245-40 or 255-35 and I do not like that much stretch on the sidewall. As it is, running a 255-40 tire on the factory wheel rubs the bolt on the control arm slightly, even though I ran into someone running the same size from multiple tire manufacturers with no issues on a 2001 E55. Much more room in the rear for a larger wheel/tire combo.

Edit: Also, the proportionally smaller tire in the front actually balances the car fairly well. Both going smaller (without decreasing the rear tire width) or wider (approaching a square stance) in the front seems to increase understeer at part throttle in my limited experience.
You might look up Zayed - M3RC3D3SE55AMG on this forum. That man doesn't do any mod that doesn't vastly improve on this platform and he does his research beforehand.

Some time ago I ran 18 X 8.5 up front with ET 35 and Bridgestone S04 245/40. I had rubbing on the bolt with full turns. I then switched to a 245/40 Continental Extreme DW and did not rub at all. Went to a 19X8.5 ET32 and the 245/35 did not rub. Now I am on a 235/35 but both looked awfully close to the bolt. I swear it will rub when I lower. My indie says no but IDK.

Rears I ran 285/30 Bridgestone S04 on a 9.5 ET35 rim, no issue.

Mine is a 2001

The front is very very difficult to fit with aftermarket wheels because of the upper bolt especially using a 245 width tire. Euro E55's had 235 width from the factory.

I'm running 19x8.5 et20 with 235/35/19, no rubbing issues at all. I highly recommend converting to studs, probably the best thing I've done on my E55.:)

That sounds amazing, I always hated the wheel bolt setup on these cars when I had my E55.
