2000 E55 AMG. Looking to buy, but...

Hello. Been trying to get this guy to budge on his price, but he is having nothing of it. Says he doesn't look at NADA or KBB, which my bank does. He uses Black book CPI. I have not heard of that one. Anybody else?

65k certainly is low mileage for a 2000 E55 but I bet he won't get the $11.5k he's asking. My guess is the car ends up selling somewhere between $8 and $9k.
You can get a supercharged W211 E55 in decent shape with a bit more mileage for around $10k.

I tried to tell him that, but he keeps referring to this Black book CPI value.

I personally think his asking price is great. A 2001 with 57k miles recently sold on BAT for $17,300, same color combo. 1999 on there now past $12k with 5 days to go with 40k miles. I think a 120k mile 01 sold recently on BAT for over $12k too. Buy this one

That's insane. There's a silver and black one owner 2002 E55 with 80k miles in excellent condition right now on eBay with a Buy it Now price of $9,995 or you could Make an Offer. No bids so far.

Paint bubbles worry me with these cars. Especially in Connecticut.

I think the guy's price is fine. My old one recently just sold again for around $6k and it wasn't in the greatest shape. Mechanically it was solid, but it needed paint. It was on the stock wheels that were in great shape (they're worth some money).

Not everyone wants a W211. I doubt I'd buy another W211 but I would buy another W210 E55. I love the W210s though and prefer to drive my E320 wagon over my E63.

I agree the W210s are great vehicles and I loved both of mine (1998 and 2002 E320s).
The only thing that really bothers me now about those style cars is the interior seems really old and dated compared to my W211 (2003 E500).

this means rust and majorly depreciates a car. Clean, rust free examples are getting big $

The W211 interiors are dated compared to what's out there now. I had a 2017 GLA250 as a loaner for a couple of days and it just made my E63 seem old inside. A lot of that is due to the Command setup that just looks old as ****.

Still think the Portland Craigslist car in OP's original post and some of the others mentioned with BAT are overpriced. Here's a 2001 silver and black bone stock E55 with 102k miles in excellent shape with an asking price of $7,950.

I paid $6400 for my '99 with a few minor issues and no rust. 93K miles when I got it three years ago. I also spent several months looking for the right deal on CL.

I'm just not seeing that from looking at eBay and Craigslist and what these cars ultimately sell for. Several W210 E55s for sale across America - at least three or four in my local area. Maybe the low mileage examples are fetching more money but the ones with over 100k miles seem to still be dropping in price. Supply and demand, that's what it's all about.

Here's a 2002 E55 with 90k miles in Chicago in decent shape, asking $8k.

1999 E55 with 107k miles in Atlanta, asking $4,500.

The '99 is a steal at that price. What else can you get for $4,500 that will drive as nice as the 210 E55, with 350 hp, and be as dependable?

There's currently a low mileage 1999 E55 on BaT that's at $13,250 with just a little time left. I don't see it going that much higher.

edit:

If you guys want to talk high prices. This 2001 E320 wagon with 59k miles sold today for $18,000. It went for more than the E55 with less miles.

Yep, 1999 E55 went for $16,750 Today on BAT, what say you now? Second one over $16,500 in a month. Just saying

I say look at the ads I posted. A 1999 E55 with just over 100k miles in decent shape, seller asking $4,500. A 2002 with 90k miles, seller asking $8k. Lots more examples just like that all over the country. Just because someone pays that much on BAT for a low mileage example doesn't mean that all W210 E55s are appreciating. I'd say cars with over 100k miles are still depreciating.

Yeah, I'm thinking this guys price is not too bad now. I was trying to get a small loan, but the banks won't because they don't see it's value.

I'm with the banks on this one. Look around - better deals out there even if you have to ship.

Have you heard of the Black Book value?
