The rubber seal that seals the interface between the windshield glass and the wiper assembly has deteriorated. We have the single wiper arm and the cam/drive, as it comes through the windshield, has a rubber seal surrounding it.
I cannot find a reference, so I thought I would ask my fellow W210 brethren.
