I am having trouble finding tires. As per Peter he said stay away from the Pirelli's. The rears in Conti's are on backorder from tirerack.

Duane...

Did Peter mention what's the issue with the Pirelli P-Zero Nero's? I was thinking of those...

What about the Michelin PS2? They have a 25 series 20" rear tire...If i'm not mistaken, it's a 295/25-20?

Duane 04-10-2005 05:17 PM

Yes the there is supposedly a lot of road noise.

I'm also doing research to get the right tires for my wheels as well. I might get the Bridgestone SO3, hope that's a good decision. If not then definitely the PS2.

I finally ordered tires today. They should arrive Friday so I can get them installed on Friday. Can't wait!!!

The PS2 is an even bigger problem than the P Zero Nero. The Nero is an OK tire but it is noisy and the Conti is much better now that it is available. The 295/25/20 CAN work but it is really close to rubbing, but anyhow the PS2s have a major out-of-round issue which is why we dont sell them anymore.

I have had uncountable Michelin tires thru the years and currently have 3 sets of PS/PS2 tires and have yet to have an out of round tire. Contis on the other hand are in my opinion junk. My E55 came from the factory with 2 out of round front tires which I have since thrown in the trash. Others on this forum seem to agree.

Peter,

Thanks for the info!

I've been very weary of buying Contis ContiSport2 since I've had them on my stock 996 TT then the 19 in fitment with the 315/25-19" rear, and finally on my E55 stock. They were ok to me, but I definetly like my E with the PS2s better. I'm not sure if it's me mentally and all the stuff negative stuff I hear about Contis, but I really think the E performs a lot better on the PS2s.

I'm going to put off going to 20s until I can get some reassurance of a good tire for the setup. Do you think Michelin will have a 285/25-20" out anytime soon?

Thanks again!

Hey there Vet...

I have to agree...I hear a lot of stuff about out of round PS2s, but I have yet to experience it.

I've had 3 cars (SL500, S600, CL 55) come with OEM Pilot Sports, and they were all nice and round. And, 2 cars, 997S and BMW Z8 Alpina with PS2 OEM, and they are both doing great.

I've heard stuff like Michelin has one of the best R&D in the business as far as tires go...I'd really love to know more about tires, but all I can dig up are little reviews and Tire Rack stuff. What about Bridgestone? I used to hear a lot of great things about the S-02A that were on my 360 and how they were some of the best street tires ever!

It's been a while since I had Bridgestones but my 78 280Z came with Bridgestones and I liked them when they were new but after 10k miles they got hard. Since the Firestone debacle I have been hesitant to even consider B'stones. My Vette's Gatorback Goodyears tended to do the same. Michelins will keep the "soft" ride as when they were new. They do wear out sooner though.
