Bumping an older thread because this just happened to me. Needless to say, it freaked me out. After searching, I found similar stories. I feel a little better, but still a bit pissed.
My story:
On my way to my brother's place to drop off a few things left in my car, I had 3 consecutive spirited runs on the long blvd. I was enjoying the beast. I stop at a red. After the red is a moderate incline. I cross the intersection, punch it right as the incline starts, and NOTHING. The car was accelerating, but, it was as if the beast turned into a puppy. Road levels out and I take a sweeping on ramp to another blvd, I punch it again, and it still feels like a puppy. I get to yet another light. The road is level here, the light turns green and the beast is unleashed again.
I get to my brother's house, stay for about 10 mins or so, and leave. I take the long way home, up and down hills, long straights. No problems whatsoever.
I'm trying to figure out if my power loss was due to the incline of the road(s); the ESP theory. Or from what seems to be the more common problem of excessive heat from the previous spirited runs. The temperature outside was a little below 60F. The car is stock. I just had a coolant leak/hose replaced yesterday, so, the car has fresh coolant
Either way, it sucks ***

My ex-cars: 03 E55,04 C32, 05 C55 ,03 E320
So i guess a lot of ppl are experiencing power loss from the E55..
caused by heat (pump failure, supercharger shut down).....
you guys still think I should get my frd to but an 04 E55?
it seems like you can do x amount of kickdowns with the E55 depending on temperature and the car gets power loss.

I'll be able to provide more concrete data early in the week as I am having the cooling upgrades installed and will be doing some data logs to validate the improvements.

problem of excessive heat
Kompressor being shut-off by DME has nothing to do with excessive heat or temperature outside. When pump quits, in most cases it is intermittent, there is simply no fluid flow to cool the intake charge. Once DME sees intake air temperature over 225F (255F on earlier E55s and C32s) it will turn off kompressor clutch until intake air cools down below 180F.

With the EVO cooling package upgrade, they replace the stock pump with a higher flowing one, and they give you an ADDITIONAL heat exchanger that gets installed in series with the stock one.
