What size should I Use?

I just got a set of 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 wheels. I have a E500 sport. should I use 245/40/19 with 275/35/19 or 245/35/19 with 275/30/19

Is your car dropped? If so, the latter for sure. But I would go with the latter anyway. Also, you can get a 285 on a 9.5' rim.

what size?

I think the 40 front and 35 rear...unless you are also lowering the car, as the gap between the fender and tire may be an issue with the lower profile, however as with any upgrades to each his own.

The proper choice is the tire that best matches your original tire diameter. This will produce the least amount of speedometer error. What tire sizes came with the car?

The car originally came with 245/45/18. the latter choice is the exact diameter.

No, the first choice is the same diameter - 26.7". The second choice is 25.5" - 25.8", depending on which size you choose.

To calculate this: (tire width) x (aspect ratio) x (2) / (25.4) + (wheel diameter)

So, for your stock setup: (245) x (0.45) x (2) / (25.4) + (18) = 26.7"

if it helps...

I'm about to install 245/35/19 and 285/30/19 on my car...that gives me .1 OD difference between front and rear - pretty optimal, although I am .1 and .4 larger than stock in the front and rear respectively.

My stock size is 245/40/18-265/35/18. That would make the upgrade close to right on...although 275/30/19 would be a closer fit for the rear --- but I like the big MEAT on the back, especially with a 10" wheel.

For each inch you increase the diameter of the wheel above stock you need to drop the profile of the tire by 5. So if you're stock wheels are 18" and your stock tires are 245/40/18 (f) and 265/35/18 (r) and you increase the wheels to 19" you need to use 245/35/19 (f) and 265/30/19 (r). As mentioned above you can increase the width to with 275 or 285 and still not worry about rubbing as long as you've not lowered your car. If you go wider on the rear the overall diameter will be off just a little (a little bigger) and you're speed with be off accordingly, but not by much.

I doubt it very much as that is a 26.7" (maybe S class or CL) diameter vs. 25.7" stock W211.

I think E500 Sport came with 245/40/18 (?), the same as E55 Front.
E500 comes with 245/45/17 as stock.

The correct diameter is 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 or if you want a little bigger, 255/35/19 and 285/30/19.
In both cases the rear is a fraction smaller than the front.

However, if you get a 10" rear wheel and over rear wheel. the exact match front and rear diameters is 255/35/19 and 295/30/19 at 26" each.

I was mistaken about the original size tires I had. They were 245/40/17. I did however get my rims and tires installed today. I went with the 245/35/19 with 275/30/19. I used the Michellin's. It came out perfect. They ride MUCH smoother that the 18" AMG wheels I had on there with Nitto tires. amazing how much smoother and quieter these tires are.

Will a 10.5 inch rear rim fit for the E55? I am curious if it can clear, thanks.

I am not certain. I do beleive it will. I just installed 19x9.5 in the rear, it looks like there is plenty of room.
