thanks............the clear part of these lights are so transparent that you can see the bulb through the glass. I tried several shades and only the darker shades hid the bulbs from being seen from the outside. The clear coat thing is just the pic.

Looking good Ted! What exactly is a "custom stall converter"? What kind of benefit do you get from it? Where did you get it and how much?

..................a stall converter AKA torque converter is designed to improve your 60ft time at the drag strip. This is what these heavily modified mustang owners do to their car to get 60ft times of 1.3 and 1/4 mile times in the 10's. It essentially allows your car to rev up to its "sweep spot" befor you launch. Our cars have peak torque in the low range say 2500rpm. My torque converter was designed to have the car quickly rev to about 2600rpm before the tires begin to move, so the acceleration is brutal. Hopefully at the dragstrip this will give me a better 60ft time and better 1/4 mile time. The job was done by a local mechanic who I've worked with for years. I do not know how much that portion of it was since I did other things to the car. I believe mine is the only stall converter modification in a benz outside of the factory. To give full credit, Jim cannon had an sl55 stall converter transplanted to his W210 E55 with Renntech s/c. To date he has the fastest w210, with mine second. Here is a link to his posting at dragtimes.com. http://www.dragtimes.com/Mercedes-Be...slip-3169.html

.............stall converters are not always a good thing for daily driving. On a mercedes, it really needs to be done by someone who knows what they are doing so as not to hurt daily driveability. If you don't drag your car much, you may not wish to pursue the headache.

............thanks for the compliment. I am glad you got to see this thread because you were planning on doing the custom suede headliner. As you can see the grip handles can also be covered in in suede and mirrors and other trim pieces stained to match the color of the suede you choose. so go for it.

Hey Ted in your interior photographs, are you playing a DVD in your Comand system?
If so, how did you do it? I popped one (Fight Club) in just to see if it would read and play it but all I got was.......... "CD reading error"

..........your question might be the single most discussed topic on the board. You may wish to do a search for additional info. There are multiple vendors for this including MBDOCTOR.COM, NAV-tv.com, MBenzNL, tvandnav2go. I believe the last two are sponsors.
