4) IMO, the old Affalterbach "fruit salad" is UGLY. And the ////AMG block logo is not much better. I won't make a product for which I have no passion.
Let's put this to bed please. Those who insist on something other than what I offer can pay Mario $150 for his mass-produced work that costs him mere pennies. At least there is a couple hours of custom machine work in my product that makes each WHITE STAR Flat Badge unique.

This thread is titled for those with E55s that do not have the double badge issue. As for E63s, aftermarket grilles do not have the badge in the grille, so for those wanting to replace the standard grille with the CL type, then the WHITE STAR Flat Badge is a viable option.
Not going to happen. For the thousandth time...
1) There already exist 3-4 Affalterbach AMG badges, ranging in proce from $15 - $150. I have no intention of adding another.
2) I feel a loyalty to the dozens of AMG owners who already display my work on their cars and like them just fine. I have no intention of creating another AMG badge that obsoletes theirs.
3) Mercedes Benz will import less than 2,000 W211 AMGs this year. Among those, maybe 100 owners will be members here, and probably less than 20 would want to replae their upright badges at all. Why would I create a product for such a small market? The WHITE STAR Flat Badge is generic to all cars with the upright star, not just AMG vehicles.

And may I respectfully say, this is why your little business will never grow. You have an antagonistic relationship with potential customers. Instead of using their interests and passion to drive yours, you impose your own views on them. I would love an old-style Affalterbach badge on my car. I think your white star is very generic and not distinctive enough for my amazing vehicle. That is my opinion; because I'm the potential customer, that also makes it RIGHT.

DFWdude: can you make a different type?
Hey, I would love to see a flat "AMG" badge that is easy to install and that will self align. But we need to make sure it will be original and not a copy of Mario's.
Can you do this?

Nope. If you must have the AMG Affalterbach design, you will have to spend 25% more to buy Mario's. I can't please everybody, but more than 200 owners are satisfied with their WHITE STAR Flat Badges (35% of them AMG owners).

Shameless X-Mas bump...
Guys, I realize you are buying gifts for others for the Holidays, but you should remember to treat yourself to a WHITE STAR Flat Badge as well. Contact me at DFWdude@tx.rr.com for details.

Not shameless at all. You are a sponsor and make a quality product.

I have three badges off ebay in a box in my garage, all different...all crap. The badge I got from Mario is the only one (I have seen) worthy of a car that cost 60K

I recently installed a WHITE STAR Flat Badge (N233) on an E63 here in Dallas. The fella didn't have a camera with him so said it was OK that I post for him. Here are some photos.

Has anyone used this one from formymercedes.com? Quality, fit, finish, etc. I don't think it has the same install hardware as the stock (maybe just a bolt and wingnut).

Don't believe this one is nearly the quality of the DFW badge. If you read some of the threads above that are linked in, you will see what I am talking about for yourself. Personally, I wouldn't use such an inferior item on such an expensive ride but to each his own.

You're likely right, but DFW doesn't make one like this. If he did, then I'm in. I can't find anything else that is simple like this. I don't want the three point star or the appletree/crankshaft.

Keep in mind, once you remove the upright star from the front of the car (pre E63 that is) and use the AMG badge, there is nothing on the hood that says Mercedes Benz. Very few people other than euthusiasts know or care what AMG means.

I'm not overly concerned about showing MB all over the car. I don't really care if anyone else knows what I'm driving. I know what it is and I bought it because it's comfortable and fun. I'm taking off all the stickers, emblems, etc. and just having it clean black.
Found this one on ebay...

Well, the greatest man to walk the earth couldn't please twelve, so I don't intend to be all things to all people. I have all the work I can handle just making the WHITE STAR Flat Badge without all these custom requests.

Answer in two parts:
Part 1 (the problem)
I used to send WHITE STARS overseas, using Global Priority Mail (3-5 business day delivery). Some 16 Badges were delivered in 2006. Then, a handful went missing before delivery. Because there was no insurance, and no way to track and confirm delivery, I had to supply replacement badges.
Then, a member here made me aware of a link on the internet, where a poster (from Europe) boasted of ripping me off for two stars. He gleefully bragged about claiming the first badge as lost, so that I would have to send another. Doubtless, he's shared the second badge with another mate and they split the cost for one. Shame on them, because the actions of one fraudulent creton have cost honest buyers overseas their chance. How would you react to this? That's a rhetorical question, actually, as I made a business decision not to ship overseas until a method to guarantee delivery tracking was found, and stand by that decision.
Part 2 (The solution)
Yesterday, I began offering overseas delivery, using FedEX "Global Express Guaranteed" which includes delivery confirmation and insurance for any loses. Unfortunately, it costs $40 just for shipping. Add this to the cost of PayPal standard fees and PayPal currency conversion fees, and the S&H charges now comprise a near 50% premium above the price of the badge itself... I wasn't sure if anyone would buy at this rate. But if you are willing to pony-up, send me an e-mail for all the details. You're welcome.

Just received my DFWdude badge. The quality is exquisite and worth every penny over the cheap plastic factory badges and alternatives. I honestly never liked the flat badges in pictures but I thought I would give it a shot and am not disappointed.
I can highly recommend these to even the pickiest of people as it is a badge the actually belongs on a $90K car.
Oh, and it took all of 30 seconds to install which included opening the hood.
