Guys.. I appreciate all the interest, and I am still working on this.

I am working with the original vendor to try and get these built.. I am also looking at making a CF version. Waiting for the quote to come in on that.

I will setup a webpage where all interested people can submit their name & email.. this way I can get a tally of how many we have.. If I can get a decent number, we are in business.

Haven't heard anything for awhile on this subbject. I'm still interested.

WordSmith 11-19-2007 02:20 PM

If you don't want to make them, would you sell the specs/drawing for them so I can take them to a machine shop?

vrus 11-19-2007 04:52 PM

It's still in the works... I am waiting for a quote from the manufacturer.. My friend was travelling to Asia so he is visiting the factory and will get back to me..

They are going to quote me on a Carbon Fiber version and the Piano Black version...

Got a quote back from the factory... This is based on 100 pairs...

We've redesigned these so that they will be 2 pieces now.. the paddle itself will be separated from the mounting section so that it will be easy to adapt these for different cars.. we will just make different bottom sections based on the car.. the top paddles will be generic and work for all of them.

The bottom portion will be made out of aluminum.

$249 for piano black paddles

$299 for Carbon Fiber paddles

I might be able to do this cheaper but I am guessing at the landed costs at this point.

I am in talks right now to try and get a prototype built in Carbon Fiber so I can show it to you guys..

I'll post updates as soon as I hear back.

Are the C-class and SLK-class paddles in piano black available now ? Or is the 1st production run sold out ? :)

Murtaza 11-24-2007 02:37 PM

I'm guessing these won't on my 06 R230. I have +/- switches on the left and right sides of my steering wheel.

Whenever you're ready to sell some for the C55 AMG I'll buy a set!

slowrey 11-25-2007 03:12 PM

No brushed Aluminum?

vrus 11-25-2007 06:00 PM

I never ended up doing the production run... It was just bad timing...

Once I get these 2 prototypes built, I will run them.

I am pretty sure the mounting base is the same as the other 2006 cars.. if so, it will work for your car also.

I want the production quality to be perfect.. Making brushed aluminum is difficult process from what I am told (if its just a painted finish over plastic).. If its real aluminum that's a different story.

Real aluminum that is brushed paddles would be awesome. Not painted plastic.

vrus 11-30-2007 12:04 PM

That's what I want, but I am worried about the weight..

The stock 06 paddles are a brushed aluminum but they are heavy and because of that require extra mounting screw to secure it to the steering wheel..

I'll post more info once I have the data back from the manufacturer.
