Keep up the photos..... they make me scared.
You would think they would deteriorate, but what your looking at here is about 30,000 k's worth of use with no significant deterioration and no external stains which is ironic considering the sump leaked like a *****. Anyway after a closer inspection with the lid off... not much oil ventures into this area.

So far it seems to work fine. I'm still open to a better solution though.

Plenty more photos to come as well.

I was going to... but after measuring and inspecting the bores according to WIS specs there is no significant wear after 110,000k's. It's ironic because after all the thrashing I've spat the Diff once and the Tranz twice... but the bores fall within WIS tolerances. Visually there is no side loading wear either. The ceramic coating still appears to be uniform... These pumpers are tuff little cookies.

Finny!!! You are my hero buddy!!

I wish I had the knowledge you have in being able to tear down my own motor and rebuild it from the ground up.

Guys... Finny is one of those very very quiet guys who just happens to know alot more than he leads on.

And if you think this is impressive wait until some other "bits" are leaked out and shown...

There are a few VERY exciting projects that are being worked on behind the scenes and info will be released very soon..

Holy cow, I can't believe the carbon build up! Nice job Finny.
How can we keep the carbon from building? Do the Catch Can?

For the DIY guys notice two oil drain plugs in the pan.

I've got 2 remedies.. 1 is the catch can.. it is the primary defence against this.. The second is the water injection... In additiona to being a cooling aid, the water acts as a cleaning agent.. It turns immediately into steam when it enters the combustion chambers and will remove some of the buildup.

Finny, regarding the carbon biuld-up - what petrol do you use? Do you ever use injector cleaner? Does that stuff work?

I used the local BP 98 ron.

The **** buildup is caused from oil which can cause detonation undetectable to our ears which the ECU detects then backs off the advance which = No Go....

Yes, this piece of scrap metal helps prevent HP thieving windage.

Oil is sprayed up under the pistons to lube and cool them. Oil from above is drained directly into the pan via plumbing.

Only a small amount oil from the piston cooling set up comes in contact with the crank. Although not 100% dry, it's the next best thing to the SLR's dry sump setup.

Anyone know if the 211 bottom ends are compatable with the older AMG M113's as they are both M113's? Looking at some of the pictures it seems like MB may have made a few upgraded changes that wouldn't allow this swap. I think I recall my tech saying something about the tranny and waterpump maybe?? After seeing some of these features on this brick I would seriously consider sourcing a 211 bottom end to swap into my C43. Then I might be able to muster more than 4-6psi safely...... I wish I was your neighbor.
